Going home outfit for mom?

I've been thinking about my hospital bag lately and I was trying to decide what to wear home from the hospital. I'm thinking about getting a cute pant/hoodie outfit from somewhere because I want to be confortable. Nothing too fancy.

What are you ladies doing?

Re: Going home outfit for mom?

  • Workout pants, tshirt and fleece sweater.  Function before beauty, baby.

  • I'm going to wear the same thing I wore last time which is a maternity sweat suit- pants and hoody like you said.  It's comfy and we'll still be wearing maternity clothes for a while after giving birth.

  • I would bring something Maternity because there is always a chance you will not fit into a your regular clothes right away.

  • My fav yoga pants (I have been wearing them my entire pregnancy and love them), a nursing tank, my husband's Eddie Bauer long sleeved thermal shirt that I have taken as my own, and my Timberland boots that i've been wearing all winter because I don't have to bend over to tie them (the laces are tucked inside). Totally comfortable. I wore something similar home from the hospital when I had DD 2 years ago.
  • I was going to wear this really cute black cotton top I got at Costco that I wore pre-prego and can still wear now. Its very flowy. Then I'll wear some jeans. I've missed wearing jeans.
Your little hands wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight Your little eye lids flutter cause your dreamin so I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light To you everything's funny, you've got nothing to regret I'd give all I have hunny, if you could stay like that Oh darling dont you ever grow up, dont you ever grow up, just stay this little Oh darling dont you ever grow up dont you ever grow up, it could stay this simple I wont let nobody hurt you, wont let no one break your heart, no one will desert you Just try to never grow up imageimage Pregnancy Ticker Lilypie Third Birthday tickers
  • I just bought 2 hoodie jogging suits threw motherhood maternity online that were on sale.  Maybe I will wear one of those.

  • I'm thinking my maternity jeans and a sweater.

  • I am thinking the same thing. I already have a pair of maternity yoga type pants that are black so they will go with anything. I am going all for comfort :D
  • I am not sure yet. I might bring my Target Liz Lange maternity dress to wear home. It is that or my maternity yoga pants and one of the nicer long sleeved maternity t-shirts that I have.

I think my sister went home in nursing pajamas.

  • I'm going to get some black yoga type pants or something similar, with a nursing tank and my Roxy hoodie I got at Costco the other day that is SO CUTE on me with my belly. It fits me now so it should fit me then. Also: flip flops!

  • I have yoga pants, t-shirt, and hooded sweatshirt packed.  I figure we are just going home and I would much rather be comfortable on the car ride.

  • I was gonna wear home the same clothes I wear there.  I don't see the point in having something different.

Just because for celebrating purposes, I guess.

  • My Liz Lange stretchies, a nursing top, a zip hoodie if it's still cool, and flip flops.  My feet were so swollen after DD1 I had to wear my slippers home.   Plus, by May, it should be warm enough here for the flips, and I hate shoes!
  • Those thinking about bringing only jeans may want to reconsider. I had a fairly routine delivery with my first and my lady parts were so swollen that I cannot imagine wearing jeans home. I am wearing yoga pants and bringing a loose pair of velour pants too incase the yoga pants are too snug for my comfort.
  • To those of you who are bringing jeans, you may want to re-think - if you end up with a c/s, the waistband/front will rub really uncomfortably on the incision.  I've heard that even vaginal birth moms don't like jeans for a week or two because they're just too rough on certain areas.  I will be wearing a pair of yoga pants with the flip down waist (as opposed to a waistband) in case I end up with another c/s.
  • Long sleeve dress and UGGS I can't imagine wanting to put on pants after all that or having a waist band rubbing against me c-section wound if I have to have one.

  • Last time I wore yoga pants, a nursing tank, a henley sweatshirt, and sneakers. The pants and sweatshirt were non-maternity but still roomy. (I am still able to fit in them now.)

You may want to bring a separate outfit in case, say, your water breaks on your way to the hospital.

  • Probably my yoga pants, a tank top, cardigan, and depending on the weather, either my Uggs or running shoes.

  • I got some comfy lose black yoga pants from Old Navy and a pink hoodie. I just want to be comfortable.

  • Likely I'll wear a pair of my Aero sweats (I wear them now, so they should still fit then) and a maternity t-shirt with one of DH's hoody's.  In mid-April, it may be spring here or still feel like the dead of winter.

Wear maternity jeans if you have to do jeans.  It's unlikely your pre-preg jeans will fit you days after giving birth.  I lost my weight quickly but your hips have widened and you still have a "pooch" for awhile.  You are going to be super sore and wearing a pad so anything slightly fitted in the crotch area is going to be uncomfortable.  That's assuming you have a vaginal birth - if you get a c/s, I would think normal jeans would be really painful.

  • I'm wearing something similar to what I wore home with DS...cute workout type pants of some sort and a cute cotton, stretchy top with a hoodie.

I ditto the suggestions to at least pack another option besides jeans b/c I wouldn't have wanted to wear jeans that soon after DS was born, and I didn't have a c/s.  I was wearing jeans after a few more days, but I still didn't wear them for very long at one time.  They were just irritating.

My only other suggestion is to avoid anything that is too clingy across your butt.  You're going to probably be wearing a pad (and not a teeny tiny one either), so if you wear something too clingy, it's going to show unless you wear a really long shirt.  I lucked out last time that my pants were just loose enough that it wasn't bad, but I'm being a little more intentional this time.  I'm fine with DD having a diaper butt on the way home, but I don't think I want to match her.  Wink

Great minds think alike!  Big Smile

  • I'm having a c-section, so I don't want to risk pants bothering my incision, so I think I'm going to wear either a maternity dress, or one of my looser non-maternity dresses that I wore until I was 6 months or so
  • i'm putting two pairs of yoga pants, a comfy v-necked short sleeved shirt, a long sleeved tshirt, and a hoodie in my bag. it's a jersey extravaganza.

  • Yoga pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket.
  • sweatpants that are high waisted (cuz I'm having another csection) and an oversized shirt---nothing fancy, comfort is the name of the game

  • I wore soccer shorts, a tee shirt, and flip flops home from the hospital when I had DS.

I'm sure my outfit will look identical this time.

Remember- you're going to feel like complete crap... sore every where, bleeding like there's no tomorrow, etc.  You are NOT going to want to put on a cute dress or even jeans.  Go home comfy.

  • Its really going to depend on the weather here in Mid May...it could be 75 degrees or 40...damn NJ, lol! I plan to pack both, but if its cold, probably my maternity black lounge pants and a comfy longer top and sneakers. If its warm, probably a flowy maternity sundress (looks like it would still be wearable not preggers too) with a cardigan and flip flops cause I love flip flops! Both the dress and pants will be loose enough to not give me "diaper butt"  from wearing a pad (I have seen the size of the pads in my hospital, you could freaking sleep on them!).

Incidentally, all of this talk of sore crotches is making me want to cross my legs and never open them again, lol!

  • I am sure there is no need to get anything expensive. I am not even buying anything. I will probably wear a pair of stretch maternity pants I already have with a nursing tank and a hoodie. Why buy anything just to get into the car and go home? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the point. Honestly, no one will care (besides ourselves) what we look like after the baby is born. They really only want to see the baby.

After my friend had her baby, she went to her ILs. They opened the door, took the baby, and closed the door on her. The baby is more imporatant now! LOL
