Help uploading ultrasound video!!

Hello Ladies!

I had my NT scan today and everything looked great! I was able to record it on a DVD-RW and would like to send it to some friends and family. I am having a hard time figuring out how to save it to my computer. Have any of you had this problem or know of a way to fix it? I would really appreciate any help!!

Re: Help uploading ultrasound video!!

  • I had the same problem! I would love to see the answers! (Sorry I'm not helpful, I've been trying to upload my ultrasound video for a week and still can't figure it out! I tried copying it to a folder on my computer from the DVD (like you do with pictures) and it shows up in the new folder but then says it's not compatible! Boo...)

  • Loading the player...
  • Well if I get any info on how to do it, I will let you know. My Dr gave me an early guess of BOY! It is such a good video and so exciting, I would love to be able to share it.
  • Have you been able to open the DVD on your computer to where you can see the files on it?  If so, what is the file extension?
  • They all seem to be .vob, which I have never seen before.

  • You have to find a way of converting the file on your DVD into something you can upload easily online.

For example my DVD files were: VOB or IFO files that you have to convert to some other file like:

     MPG, AVI, WMV, MP4

The catch is that most programs are only free for a trial basis that you find online or only let you convert like 30 seconds of the video for free.

So, you have to probably purchase a good converter program (there are hundreds) online, just download something that looks reputable that says it will convert a VOB DVD file into MP4, MPEG, AVI or something like that.

Or if you know someone who is good with computers they can usually find a free version of this program.  I found a free one that gives you ONE free conversion but I can't find the link anymore.  It also takes a long time to convert the file (it took over 1 hour for me) so good luck!

Basically it's a good amount of work to do, (especially if you're not too computer savvy) so another suggestion could be to just burn the DVD and send people a copy.

Oh, also there are DVD editing programs that allow you to cut and edit the files into a much shorter video that you can then convert more easily.

Oh and about saving the DVD to your computer, you have to actually burn the DVD to your hard drive that you should be able to do with a number of different programs that may have come installed on your computer.  Or just copy and paste the file (like the VOB file) then convert it later.  The VOB file though should open with any DVD program you have on your computer.  It just may not open with Windows Media player or other media players, since they usually only read video files like the standard MPG, AVI, WMV, MP4 or basic WAV files.
