I want my babies to be big and healthy, but I feel like I'm gaining soooooo much weight. My prepregnancy weight was 112 (I'm 5'4.. so maybe a couple pounds below average, but not much). Now, at only 18 weeks, I'm weighing 137 and that was at my 17 week check up.
I'm wondering how much everyone else gained early on. I'm totaling 25 pounds or so. Is this normal??? I can't even imagine how big I'll be by 37 weeks.
Re: Weight gain for 18 weeks...
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I lost until I was 17w (no m/s, I just seem to lose at the beginning), but I still gained 48 pounds.
I'm up 25 lbs too at 22 weeks, which I too thought was a bit much also. I cringe just having to get on the scale every 3 weeks at the doctors office. But my doctors haven't said anything about the weight gain...but to just keep doing what I'm currently doing. When I had the 20 week u/s the babies both measured in at 12 oz which might be a little larger than where they should be at that particular time, but it's probably better in the long run in case they come prematurely.
I wouldn't worry about it.. unless your doctors mention something to you about it.
i was aiming for the 24lbs in 24w - and was up 19lbs at 24w.... and i was really trying- the babies were just eating it up and using it for energy or something. I also was by no means "thin" when i got pg - i was a 14/16, so I had some pudge on me --- some of my friends thought the first 1/2 of my pg I actually lost weight in my face and arms and it went to my belly instead.
I'm so glad to hear that other moms-to-be are gaining a good amount of weight early on too. I've gained 14lbs. in the past 14 weeks and was beginning to worry. At my last appointment I asked the doc if I was ok weight wise and she assured me I was fine, but they have me down as only gaining 8lbs since my first appt. when I know I gained more than that. She told me that with twins I could expect to gain around 15 lbs. by 20 weeks. Looks like I'm going to be well over that.
I had the same thought as many of you though...if it helps these babies grow bigger faster, then so be it.
