I think I lost it! What does this mean?

I think I lost my mucus plug tonight. What does this mean exactly. I went to the hospital Tues night for severe swelling in the legs and ankles. When I was there they hook me up and I was having contractions every two min. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions and send me home. I go back to the doctor on Fri morning. I am very concerned. Should I be or am I paranoid?

are you sure it is your plug? i would just call your doctor in the morning and let him know what you think happened. They might want to see you sooner. Don't panic just yet.

I don't think it's worth panicing over just yet. I lost my mp for 2 weeks before DD was born. The day before she was born it was tinged pink. Otherwise, it just looked like a lot of snot.

TMI: It wasn't pink, but looked like a glob of snot. I was just a little concerned. If I tell the ob tomorrow, will he be able to tell if I lost it or not? Sorry if I sound so dumb, but this is my first go around and after the visit to the hospital on Tues, now I am a little paranoid!

Don't freak out just yet. It's not uncommon to lose your plug early in pg, it'll just regenerate. You can call your doc just to let them know what's going on, but it's probably nothing to be concerned about.
