BOTB HAS changed

I know that people come on here to whine and complain that it's "changed since year so-and-so".  Usually it's met with the same old, "same sh!t, different day".  But honestly, I've have been around since this board was on the KNOT, and never in nearly a decade have I seen such hateful, vindictive, and appalling behavior on this board.  It's one thing to make fun of someone for lying in cat piss, or taking BC while pg.  It's an entirely different thing to mock and criticize the grief that someone feels over losing a CHILD.

 I don't even know what to say.

 This ISN'T the BOTB I knew.

    & if these trolls think that doing these atrocious, horrid things will change BOTB, they are right. But it won't change it the way they want it to be. I'm sure this board & it's members will be even MORE leery of newbies because of it.

    I don't think that a few hateful twats can sum up the entire tone of this board.  The events from yesterday just prove what a tight, loving supportive group we are, especially for those we love.  What has happened is horrible and almost unspeakable. 

    Personally I wouldn't have been able to get through the last year without the wonderful amazing women of this board and community.  When my mother suddenly died and I wasn't able to walk one more step, these women carried me.  As I think about the love, support and friendship I have found here I am honestly awed.  I am crying as I type this, because I seriously do not know what I would do with out all of you.

    Agree with BancBev.  Recent events are horrible, but it isn't new.  Perhaps new to be vicious in such a public manner, but I have had two very freaky threatening incidents that started with this board.  So yeah, there are individuals on this board who suck at life, but they are an extreme minority and have always been around.

    Disclaimer: I'm not saying botb or people on here deserve or are asking to be shat on IRL simply because the board can get snarky, just that it's part of the risk of being so out there in cyberland.

    It most certainly is not the first time.  There was one involving a boss, and I suspect many more that people are quiet about.  I have had two BIG ones.  I didn't say anything on here for many many months because they would have enjoyed it and it would have egged them on.  Major threats about me not being safe around children, and calling the police.

    I don't feel like I've been around this board  long enough to comment much on what's been going on  there the past few days, but reading through all of this crap this morning made me so sad/angry. I just don't understand how people can be so awful.

    I wish everyone the best, and hope that all the nasty people have moved on to torment other boards.

    I thought something must have happened to someone at some point. It doesn't surprise me. There are too many creepers who get their rocks off on being caped crusaders between the interwebz and IRL.

    I was going to say I'm pretty sure BGG has been targeted IRL.

    I don't really care what is said or done on these boards. It is the internet. But to maliciously start to mess with someone IRL, is beyond psycho IMO.
