I'm sitting here watching youtube videos and clicked on an Elvis video...women flinging themselves at the hearse as it drives past during his funeral procession. I've definitely been saddened, but can't imagine being THAT torn up about a celebrity death.
I cried when Dale Earnhardt Sr died (my brother was very ill as a child, and a huge nascar fan, and he used to send my brother all kinds of stuff--letters, cars, pictures, etc. he was so kind to our family that it was personally sad to me).
I may have cried when Johnny Cash died--I don't remember.
Edited to correct my mistake! Long day, sorry!
Re: Random: Have you ever cried about a celebrity dying?
I cried when Katherine Hepburn died and when the guy who played Archie Bunker died. They reminded me of my grandparents.
I cried when Heath Ledger died b/c I was just so shocked by it.
And not sure if she qualifies as a celebrity, but I cried like a baby when Princess Di died.
Please tell me that I did not go into a coma and somehow miss Dale Earnhardt Jr Dying.
I know you mean SR.. I cried for a week, you would have thought that he was my best friend forever.
I cred during Michael Jackson's Funeral
you mean Earnhardt Sr.
I cried when princess diana died and when Sr died but not as much as I did when princess diana died.
Me too! That was so sad. I remember getting up so early on a Saturday morning to watch her funeral.
junior just got 2nd in daytona
maybe kurt cobain, don't remember
princess di was awfully sad
I was very sad to hear that Paul Newman had died. I've gotten a little choked up during the 'remembrence' part of the Oscars, but never cried.
I can't say I "cried," but I was extremely saddened by Princess Diana, Ronald Reagan, Tim Russert and Heath Ledger.
Okay, so maybe I cried about Ronnie and Tim.
I cried when Steve Clark died. Guitarist for Def Leppard. I was 12 though and was trying to learn to play guitar cause I wanted to play like him. I thought he was the best guitarist ever (remember I was 12).
Its still sad that he died like he did.
I think I cried when Princess Diana died too and Steve Irwin. I cry pretty much at the drop of a hat.
If anyone brings up my old dog I will cry still too (tearing up just typing and thinking about Muffin)
Ditto. I loved Paul Newman. And, he was totally hawt back in the day!
Reagan and Tim Russert, I sobbed for both of them.
I still miss Tim Russert. Gah.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
The figure skater Sergei Grinkov. I don't know if anyone remembers him. He skated with his wife and collaspsed and dies during practive in 1995. I think they had a little girl. Then she did a farewell skate dedicated to her husband. I was sobbing.
I know it is kind of random.
YES! His wife was/is beautiful. I remember that.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
I remember being absolutely floored when that happened. So sad.
Me too! And the fact that Elton John came to his funeral...put Indiana on the map!
I remember reading his biography - just when AIDS was getting in the spotlight.
Yes.
Michael Jackson. I cried because he died the day after I had DS and I was stuck in the hospital with 4 channels on the tv covering it 24/7 for 4 days. The pain of the hoopla was worse than birth.
A Pocket Full Of Dinosaurs
I remember this!
the only "celeb" I've cried over was a friend. she was a local celeb in her city, radio dj. she was attacked and murdered in her apt. My old college roomie called to tell me (we all lived in different cities by this point)... It was an aweful time. So sad. it happened a handful of years ago and it's still weird to see college pics of her and think she's gone.
Twice that I can remember. Michael Landon (yeah, I know) and Johnny Cash (he's kind of family).
Edited to add Heath Ledger. Can't believe I forgot because I was REALLY upset.
I just thought of two more.
I don't think I cried, but Patrick Swayze's death really saddened me.
Also, Ronald Reagan's death was hard because my dad was suffering with advanced Alzheimer's at the time. I'm sure I cried then.
Kurt Cobain. He died when I was in high school, and at the time, he was a really important celeb figure in my life. I was going through a phase when I thought no one could possibly understand me or what I was feeling. His songs helped me get through a lot, so I felt a little stung when he died.
I remember getting an upset stomach when Heath Ledger died because we're about the same age, and all I could think about was his poor daughter.
Definitely Michael Jackson. I still can't believe he's dead.
Last year, I've cried over several celebrities that died young, especially if it was due to cancer since I also lost my mom to cancer last year.
Princess Diana.
My parents cried when some race car driver died. It was ridiculous.
Me with my littlest.
