OMG- JUST twins is so easy! lol

sorry Aussie - i had to post it :)  but you can relate! :)

i haven't had a day with just the twins alone in a long time (normally it's 2 Wed's a month but my schedule was wacky last month).

today is my first day with just the twins in about a month - Griffin is at daycare... and it's been SO easy!!!  I forgot how much I enjoy these days with them alone- i feel like I can give them so much more attention- and that Griffin isn't bored when i'm taking care of their feeding/diapers, etc.

so whenever you moms of just twins are having a bad day- remember that it's easier than if you had a toddler with you, too :)

  • So true : )

My IL's offered to have our boys spend the night soon and I told one of my friends "I never thought that having just twin newborns would be an easy day for me!"

When my hubby runs out with the boys on errands I feel like I'm on vacation ; )

haha.  1+ twins is totally doable- it's just a lot more work :) I love having all 3 boys together for 2 days a week... I just forgot how nice it is to have my Wed's be a nice break with just the twins since I haven't had those days for a month :)

you can do it! you just need to laugh at the little stuff and not get stressed :)

  • I can only imagine!!  :-)  enjoy your time with them!
  • Haha! That's exactly how I feel when DH takes one of the LO's for a walk & it's just me and one kid... I can't imagine 3 right now!

This!  I'm having a hard time just being pregnant with a toddler.  OMG!

  • It's all relative. When you find yourself having a hard day with all 3 boys, just think of our friends with 4 under 2. ;) Or my friend with 6 under 6, etc. There's always someone who has it tougher. (And easier. ;))

  • I've had just the twins several times now, and it's great.  My parents have taken the older two for 2 1-week stints, and a few weeks ago they started going to their old DCP (in-home) on Thursdays, so I can do a few things with less to corral.

I may not have a popular opinion, but having the twins alone (so far) is far easier than 2U2 ever was.  And I know part of that is that I'm not a first-time mom.  Everyone has a unique situation/unique personalities, but this is my case.  I love some alone baby time, and my 2 older kids love to get away from us and have some great play/friend time.

I agree having just the babies is easier in a lot of ways and its nice b/c they do get more one on one attention and I can cuddle and rock one if the other is asleep, but to give a different spin its also easier to have the toddler at home as well, b/c she provides great entertainment for the babies!  I can leave them on the floor and she plays w/ them and keeps them happy - something you wouldn't get w/out a toddler at home!

  • totally not the same, but when i have just two boys for whatever reason (sometimes i'll take two to the store or whatever) it's SOOO much easier. and honestly, i hardly get a second glance.

confirmation here too!! I am so nervous about to handle a 2+ toddler and twins but as I can see on here, it is doable! I just remember all the work it took for ONE newborn and now TWO with a toddler, AAAAHH!!!

But I keep reminding myself that its not my first baby and we learned ALOT with ds...poor lil guinea pig ;-)

i am envisioning a chaotic few months but we will adjust!!!

  • Goldie -

Our situation is very similar - but I have all girls. My older DD will be 3 in May, and my twins were a year old on New Years' Eve (so older DD and twins are 19 months apart). But I do realize everyday just how much easier it would be to have 2 kids (older DD & baby - especially as far as getting out & about with them), but also how much eaier it would be than that even to just have the twins. But I truly would not have it any other way, despite what an unbelievable amount of work it is. I also very much treasure just one-on-one time with any child & have a personal rule that I will drop whatever it is that I am doing to take advantage of any opportunity to have alone-time with any one child. But I do often thinjk of MOMs with twins & want to say to them - hang in there - if you think you have it bad, think of having a 2.5 year old toddler too!!!  More power to us all!!

Yeah, that's why if I'd had a singleton first, I would've waited at least two years before TTC again, so they wouldn't be super close together. It's great if that's what you want and think you can handle, but I never wanted 2 under 2 (or 3 under 2 ;)), whether they be multiples or singletons close together. Too tiring! (And expensive!) Ideally I would've loved to have my kids one at a time and at least 2 1/2 years apart. But when you start out with twins, you don't really have a choice but to hit the ground running. (And you will never know what it was like to have just one baby to focus on; your attention is divided from the beginning.)
