Are you getting a rocking chair/ chair CLICKY POLL

Are you getting a chair for the nursery? I can't decide if I am. The room isn't huge, and I would rather come downstairs where DH is hangout with him and nurse. And I will do it in my bed at night time. What are your thoughts? 2nd time moms did you find it useful?

  • LO's room is a little small so I think we'll get a glider for the living room :0)

  • I want one of those glider things.
  • This was our main splurge for the nursery.  We got an upholstered glider/rocker w/ an ottoman.  It was pricey, but we chose a neutral fabric that can be used for future nurseries (if we are blessed w/ more babies) or could go elsewhere in the house also.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • I will be doing it in bed at first as well.  However, once she is sleeping in her crib I'd rather have a place in there to nurse/feed so I don't disrupt her or my husband.  Smile
  • We got a glider for free with our crib and we have it in there!  I agree though I'm not sure how much use it's gonna get but it's so cute!

This is exactly what we did.  Ours looks like an armchair and matches our living room decor.

  • yeah - but we just got the cheapy one from target. I used it quite a bit at nighttime and for nursing.
  • I'm buying a chair from my neighbor, and putting it in my bedroom (the crib will be in there too, at first).  But, our house is all on one floor, so going to the bedroom with the baby won't take climbing stairs or even having to stop talking to anyone else in the house.
  • I put a glider on my registry and am hoping someone generous buys it.  I don't know if I can justify the expense if it's coming out of my own pocket though.

  • I'm going to put the glider in our room to start (since that's where the baby will sleep for the first few months) and when we move our LO to his or her own room, we'll move the glider too.
  • We had a chair in DD's room I found useful for BF'ing right before bed, right up until she weaned.  We're getting a second one because we still use the one in her room to sit in with her to read her bedtime stories.

  • This is a must have in our home. No better place to read LO to bed. My DD is 20 months old and we still sit in her chair every night to read. when she was first born, I spent hours and hours a day in that chair, holding her while she slept and reading my own books. Also great for feedings and nursing. I highly reccommend it. The nursery is small but I wouldn't have it any other way.
  • My parents wanted to buy something for the nursery and since we are getting a crib second hand. I suggested they get a glider. I'm really excited because this is definitely something that we wanted. We went to look at them at BRU and they have some nice compact ones so I think we will get one of those.

  • For me personally I didn't care on way or the other but everyone we know said that it was a must have item. Friends of our are giving us theirs. I am going to make slip covers for the cushions.

I could easily feed LO in the loft next to her room but guests have to walk by the loft to get to the guest room and I am really private with things like that. Having some sort of seating in LOs room is  going to allow me to BF without my MIL having to see it all hang out.

  • I'm keeping it in the nursery.  That way if he's noisy at night when he's still in our room I can feed him in his room next door so DH can sleep.  I also don't plan on nursing around visitors(at least until I'm a little more comfortable with it)so it will be nice to have a comfy chair set up away from entertaining areas.

  • I voted yes but what's actually in there is more of a small loveseat/futon-ish thing. It belonged to DH before we lived together and it fits nicely in there.

  • I have a rocking chair that belonged to my grandmother, and it will definitely be going in the nursery.
  • I got a nice glider/ottoman off of craigslist for $25.   It will probably stay in the living room.  I can't imagine staring at a wall bored out of my gourd while LO nurses.   She's gonna have to get used to nursing and sleeping around noise, cuz DH and I are somewhat loud people. :)

  • I voted yes but the caveat is that it was free. It is your basic rocking chair, nothing fancy. If it was not given to me, I would not spend money on one.
  • I have a rocking chair in our master bedroom for night time and a glider in the baby's room.
