It didn't work for me but I needed it for selective use. I took it while flying because I would get anxious and have panic attacks, but it never worked.
I took it some when I was having anxiety attacks after coming off BCP. I felt it did very little for the anxiety. I just sort of spaced out and got tired, but still felt anxious. I was not a fan.
How long have you been taking it ? I think it takes awhile for it to really start working.
I assumed it was for immediate use, since she put me on it for mostly insomnia. I am also on Effexor, and I know that will take a while to work.
Hm well I was put on the generic version (so that could be it) and complained to my doc that I didn't think it was working. He told me to give it some time. If it isn't work though tell them and they will put you on something else.

I hate Xanax. It should work fast, and right away. It has a really high abuse potential, and so people will perscribe a lower dose because they feel like that is less likely to be abused. Then it doesn't work.
It can also be really difficult to wean people off of it without rebound anxiety symptoms if you take it for a long time.
I would ask your doc for something a little longer acting like ativan or klonopin, or even ambien for sleep if that's when you are taking it.
