only eating cheerios-wwyd?

So, we're on round 2 of molars and DS is up a lot, cranky, clingy, and not eating much. When he does in fact decide to eat, he usually eats a good full meal, but now he's picking at things and all he wants to eat are Cheerios. Granted, I'm giving them to him because other than bananas it's the only thing I KNOW he'll eat. He's downing more bottles than usual too (4-5 instead of 3). Do you think I should just ignore it, and let him continue to eat/drink what he wants since I know it's molars, or do you have some other advice? Thanks!

  • When ds has been sick or cutting teeth, I give him whatever he'll eat - whatever it is, however much he wants of it! Usually only lasts a few days.

  • Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Just needed to hear it from someone else I guess. Thanks!
  • I try to offer a well-balanced meal at each mealtime, and then it's up to them to decide which parts of it they'll eat.  I would make sure whatever you offer is a consistency that won't bother him when he's teething. (I'm fairly new to the molar-teething phase though so take that fwiw.) If you know from experience this will only last a few days, then I think just feeding him whatever he'll eat is fine.

  • DC's 2nd molars on the bottom are coming in. Whatever DC will eat is fine with me. We go through ultra-pickiness while teething.
  • Ian is cutting 4 molars right now, and up until recently he would only eat Cheerios too - along with turkey or grilled cheese sandwiches, shredded chicken, and applesauce.  Now he throws the Cheerios on the floor but he'll eat graham crackers.  I just give him as much of the above as he'll eat and keep offering new stuff, even though he refuses pretty much all of it. . .

  • Let him eat what he wants. It will pass. It always does for us.
