New to This Board

Hello! I just want to introduce myself. DH and I found out three weeks ago that I'm pregnant. This was a very unexpected surprise as we weren't originally planning on having children. Yesterday (on my birthday, no less) we had our first appt. with the u/s and found that we are having twins. My expected due date is on September 20th.  : )

  • Wow, two big surprises! Congratulations and welcome to the board! I recommend picking up a copy of Dr. Luke's book When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads; twin pregnancies are very different from singleton pregnancies and a lot of us have found this book very helpful! :)

    welcome!

Quite honestly, when I initially found out that I was pregnant I was really upset and couldn't tell anybody without bursting into tears. However, I had gotten used to the idea and was ready to welcome and love the baby and accept the challenge of parenthood. Oddly enough a few days before the appt. I kept thinking to myself that I was going to have twins. The only reason I can come up with about this thinking is that my husband's brother and his wife have a set of twins and so I've been around them since they were born. Anyways, somehow I had already mentally prepared myself and wasn't surprised when we were shown the ultrasound. Now that we have been to the doctor and have seen the ultrasound I have to say that I'm getting pretty excited about the babies. I know that the pregnancy will be higher risk and probably more difficult and that after they're born it's going to be much more work, but I'm lucky that we both have plenty of family around to help out. I also have my sister-in-law, who has the 2 year old twins, to ask for advice and go to for support.

Long story short, yes, I'm definitely ok with it.  : )
