no. She volunteered. I think it would be very awkward to pay her to spend time with her grandchild. I work night shift, so all she really does is feed her once, put her to bed, and then sleep herself. DD STTN, so she'd basically be getting paid to sleep over.
My mom and MIL split the week with him and paying them was never even brought up. They won't even let us buy formula for when he's there. I think they'd be offended if we offered to pay them.
My mom will be watching DS 3 days/week at her house when I go back to work (going back PT) and we've agreed to pay her $150/week. I offered that amount and she said ok, but she'll use part of it to provide diapers/wipes. I'll provide his food (formula/solids).
My MIL watches her and we do not pay her. I would just stay home if we had to pay for daycare! The only reason she gets to watch her is because I have to work and she is free. Yes, I said 'gets to watch her'.
MIL doesn't let us pay her but we do anyway. I just drop off the money and when she says take it back, I say "talk to your son about it" Then when she tries to give it to him, he says "talk to mavila about it."

Eventually she uses it. We only give cash though.
