Mom's w/ 2 LO's - 2 baby monitors question

This may sound ridiculous but we have a really big old house and I was curious to know if you've thought of using two baby monitors?  DS isn't a baby anymore but I still find a lot of comfort in being able to hear the slightest noise in his room on the monitor.  Wondering if I'll have to give that up or if there's a way to have two monitors?

  • We are in the same boat. DS is only going to be 23 months when DD comes, so we want two monitors. As long as one monitor is digital you will have no issues with two monitors... that's we are doing. We only use a monitor with DS during the night.

  • ours will be 18 months apart, so we need 2 as well. We have a summer infant handheld video monitor for DS and bought another for DD. I couldve just bought an extra camera, but then you cant hear them both at the same time--you have to switch back and forth.

We are happy with video monitors for our kids.

  • We use 2 now (we have a 1.5 yo and a 3.5 yo). When baby comes DDs 1 & 2 will share a room and baby will go in the nursery so we will conitnue to use 2 monitors - one in each room. Our master is on the main floor and our kids' rooms are upstairs. We love the set-up but it kind of makes multiple monitors a necessity in our opinion... :)

  • I also plan to use 2 and posted about this the other day on the Baby Gear board.  I think the final determination was to keep the one we have and get a digital.  I was not looking at digital (didn't know there were such a thing!) so I have to start my researching all over.  DS is 3 and we still use it and plan to for a long time.  He woke up twice last night from a bad dream and was glad we still use it to hear him.  We have a split bedroom ranch so he is at the opposite end of the house from us and I use a window unit a/c to supplemently cool our room (to save on cooling costs/heating costs).  The monitor is on DH's side of the bed and I can barely hear DS#1 with the a/c on.  I'm hoping that once I'm not pregnant I can not use the loud a/c so much.  I'll put #2's monitor on my side.

Have you tried them out yet?  We have that same monitor for DD and were considering getting another one.  I'm a little concerned about interference since they are on the same frequency.
