TTC After a Loss

Good morning and QOTD

Good morning ladies! I extracted my car from the carport yesterday (the plow had dumped a 2 foot snow bank behind my car!), so I'll be working at the office today.

QOTD: It seems appropriate to talk about Lent today. Do you give anything up for Lent? If so, what are you giving up this year?

  • Good Morning. For lent, I am going to try to not be so judgemental, especially at work, which is really really hard.

  • When I was younger I almost always gave up candy.  DH and I are not very religious and therefore do not follow many of the traditions anymore.  We have both had some very tough times in our lives and lost parents at a young age that it is hard to believe.  We believe...similar to new year...that if there is something worth giving up to make ourselves feel better or to make ourselves better people that we should not have to wait for an event to do so.  Nothing against those that do...just the way we view things.
  • Good morning!  :)

I usually don't give anything up for lent.  One year I gave up ice cream which was soooo hard because I LOVE ice cream.  I haven't given anything up in a long time though, and had not even thought about it for this year until this post.

  • Good morning!!

QOTD:  During Lent, I give up meals on Ash Wednesday and replace them with prayer/meditation.  I'll be giving up Saturday for a day of silence and reflection.  From then on, I'll be giving up my most precious resource - bits of time - in order to participate in service in my community.  We also increase our financial giving to various arenas during this time.  I'm big on Lent -- these days lead up to perhaps my favorite church holiday - Easter.

  • Hi all!

QOTD:  I was raised Catholic and used to give up something every year (or tried to).  I have since changed religions to non-denominational Christian and we do not practice lent.

  • I normally do not give up anything for Lent, but this year I am thinking about giving up an hour of tv each evening.  Normally I only watch about an hour, but I cannot completely give it up.  This way that I can get more stuff done.
