Seriously.
I'm so mad I could cry.
First my child psychologist friend told me due to my 16 month old DS chewing objects it sounds like he has an oral motor issue. Seriously? Hes not even a year and a half!
I call my 34 week pregnant sister to talk about it and she said, "I don't think its him. I think its you. You don't discipline properly. When I have DD I'm not going to let her go through my cupboards or her dresser drawers. If shes cranky while I'm out she'll just have to deal. I'm the mom and shes the baby."
I explained to her going through cupboards (he loves to stack tupperware) and drawers helps him explore his world. I also not so nicely suggested that she get a clue. I may have even added the dreaded "you just wait..."
DS gets time outs, I redirect. I refuse to spank. He is 16 months old FFS.
Re: Must be judge my child and parenting choices day
People just don't get it.
My nineteen month old still chews on things. It's called, "I'm getting molars and it HURTS!" or "I'm exploring textures and seeing what I can get away with."
Your sister is in for a big surprise. Happened to all of us.
And spanking is not appropriate for a sixteen month old. Sick. People are just weird.
Did your psychologist friend get his degree online at the university of phoenix? Your baby is 16 months old! Jo still licks her shoes now and again and she'll be 2 next week. I'm certain this would translate into a trouble child with gender issues.
Also your sister is a douche.
Your kid is SIXTEEN MONTHS OLD. Plenty of time to stop chewing on the furniture and get some words.
I imagine he won't be leaning down to chew on the pews at church on his way up the aisle at 29. Jeeeepers.
Don't take it personally. I said a lot of the same sh_t before I had B. Yeah, I've had to eat my words MANY times. You're the mom, you get to call the shots. Not your sister, your friend, your mom, your cousin's uncle's best friend, etc.

Yep, those were my exact thoughts. Until you are in the situation, you really have no clue!
I am sorry you had to put up w/ this! Hopefully people will start to keep their thoughts to themselves!
I'm cracking up at your sister too. That's how I started out. now if i hear Jo going through the cupboards I'm just like "Jo. Just dont' touch the meat cleaver!"
Whatever works.
lol. Thank you for the laugh!
