Anyone use G diapers?

Pros/cons?  I've just been looking at them since yesterday, but my initial thought is that they look like a great idea. Cloth inserts or disposable/biodegradable inserts seem like the best of both worlds and they don't really seem to be more expensive than other cloth options.  Anyone know of a reason NOT to go with them, or recs for something better?

  • don't flush them if you have a septic system ;)

  • we used them when she was a newborn with cloth inserts and really liked them. Didn't have any blowouts. we now use BG3.0's but she was too small for them when she was little so we went with the G's.
  • I really looked into them, but the cost is prohibiting me from going that route. I think G diapers are about 38 cents each while a regular disposable* is 19 cents. Assuming 8 diaper changes a day, that's an additional $10.64 a week and $553.28 each year. YIKES! I definitely want to help the environment, but that's a lot of money!

But, the money is my only reasoning for not using them. So, if that's not a factor for you, I say go for it!

*Can't remember, but I think I looked at a 250 count box of Size 1 Pampers Swaddlers for this comparison.

  • I'm not sure how it compares pricewise, but you could also check out flip diapers - sounds like the same thing. You can use disposable inserts (for relatives taking care of DC or traveling, or you don't feel like doing cloth laundry!) and you can use cloth inserts as well. The only thing is I think those are one-size, and like pp mentioned, one-sizes don't really work for newborns (at least not IMO.) Margo's still not fitting in some size small diapers we have, I can't imagine BG3.0's on her when she's so tiny still.

GL - there are lots of options out there!

  • We used these first with O and hated them, he leaked everywhere and we tried their disposable inserts, cloth inserts and using prefolds folded a certain way - still had major leaks.  We use a heavy rotation of BG and FuzziBunz, and love them!  It really is trial and error to find what you like and works for your baby - GL!
