I've never had them, but my two older siblings had them when I was born (literally, they were home with the chicken pox while my mom had me) so I was exposed to them. When I was pregnant I was nervous cause there was an outbreak at my job so I got tested and am immune to them. DS is vaccinated already, so there's not much more I can do. If we get them, we get them. I've taken steps to prevent it, so I'm hoping it works.

My brother had them and I hung out beside him the whole time (my mom's idea). So my doctor theorized that I built up antibodies at that time even if I never came down with the symptoms.
But I think DD got the vax (not sure, if not, she will get it), so hopefully it's not coming to our house.

My brother had them when we were little, so my mom kept us together the whole time hoping I'd get it too, but I never did. I assumed I was immune but during my last pregnancy found out I'm not. DS has been vaccinated, so I'm not really concerned.
I work in schools so I got vaccinated when I was in grad school. DH and I were engaged at the time and i was thinking about our future. The thought of getting pox when I was pg terrified me more then actually get chicken pox in general, so i got vaccinated. So far so good
Re: if You've never had chicken pox...
Deadly for both adults and children, but it is most common for those who die from it to be older adults.
I had the chicken pox (twice), and my doc recommends getting the vax anyway to help prevent shingles. I will probably do that.

I was tested for immunity to them when I was trying to get pregnant since I never had them. According the test I am immune to them.
But I also plan on getting DS vaccinated for them in the aim that he never gets them either.

I have never had them.
They told me when I was pregnant with DD that I had an immunity to them.
I thought that I miss-understood them, but when I got pregnant again they did the blood work and told me that again.
I have yet to research this to see what it means. Meaning that I had a mild case and didn't know it or I have a true immunity.
