SO...Cole only gained a little over an ounce since leaving the hospital last Monday (left at 10lbs 7oz and now is only 10lbs 8.5 oz). The pedi was also not thrilled with how gassy his belly is (it is always very distended) and said "wow he is really full, did he just eat" and it was actually going on 3.5 hours since his last feed. She asked me if I saw a huge change with the Zantac and I said not really - I mean he is still very fussy at times and crying in pain (like red faced) and is still puking up sometimes a TON and projectile. She said this is not what she is looking for and is frankly concerned about his belly and the fact that he doesn't smile a ton (or at all really, I only get 1 smile a day after being coaxed and he never smiles for DH) or seem "happy". He used to be a SUPER happy baby never fussy, never colicky and now he just isn't. I chalked it up to a normal change but this pedi is concerned.
This is now the plan...she is really concerned about his weight gain since he used to gain really well and the belly issues so we are 1. starting prevacid instead of zantac and 2. repeating the ultrasound since she isn't convinced this still isn't pyloric stenosis (she said last week it could have been early and it could still be PS).
I am glad she is very thorough and DH and I are glad that we aren't crazy thinking this is not our happy baby we had before the whole illness/hospital stay.
So our ultrasound is scheduled for Friday (P & PT pleaseee) and we start there. I am going to get his prevacid filled tomorrow AM.
On the normal check up stuff - he is 22inches and 10.8lbs and he is 25th% for height and weight and 10th% for head.
UGH. sorry its so long. Now I am back to worrying about my little dude. I knew he just isn't himself I just thought maybe it was going to be new for him to be like that but now I feel bad that he just doesn't feel good
Re: Update on Cole's 2 Month :( ugh.
GL with the u/s! Olivia is on Prevacid and it has worked WONDERS for her! I have heard its works much better than Zantac, so I hope it helps out baby Cole.
Big ((HUGS))
Awww hun I'm so sorry! When it comes to smiling, Jack isn't a super smiley guy. We had to work hard for our smiles around Cole's age, and now, he rarely smiles for anyone besides DH or me. I just call him shy.
I hope they figure out how to fix his belly so he can feel better!!!
I'm so sorry about that Vanessa! I'm glad that your doc is proactive though and isn't taking the wait and see approach. You will get it figured out and Cole will be great! Oodles of positive vibes coming your way girl
He and Carson are right about the same in percentiles, Carson has a tiny head too : )
i'm sorry
fingers crossed for you and cole!
