Elective ultrasounds

 If you had the option to find out the gender early through an elective ultrasound, would you?  Step-BIL's fiance works at a 3-d ultrasound place in town, and has offered to do an early ultrasound at 16 weeks so we can find out the sex. 

I really want to do it, but DH is not so sure.  He wants to wait and let the Dr. do an official ultrasound at 20 weeks.  WWYD?

    Elective....for free??  I'd SO do it!  Of course, I would want to follow up with my Dr. at 20 wks., just to be sure.

    If it was free, I would do it.

    But I wouldn't start painting or anything until after it's confirmed for sure later on.

    If it was free, sure. But 16 weeks is really early. I might wait until 17 or 18.

    If it was free...yes.  I wouldn't bet on it being correct until my doctor's appointment at 19-20 weeks.  My good friend's boy turned into a girl!

    I say go for it.  We found out what we were having at 16 almost 17 weeks!

    i would wait. the longer you wait the more accurate it will be. we even waited until 23 wks. but that's just me. you guys should do what's best for you.

    I'd probably do it but wait til I got confirmation from the u/s tech at at least 20 weeks before doing anything...

    If it was free sure just for fun...but like the others I wouldn't start buying anything until confirmation at 20 weeks.  I'm like Tiffany...my 20week apt actually took place at almost 22 weeks and when they told me 100% girl at that one I was still a little skeptical even though looking at the pictures it was pretty obvious....we did the 4D at 28weeks and I had them check again lol!

    Go for it! I had the first u/s at 10 weeks by DH's cousin and went at 15 weeks to a friend (just for fun) and found out the sex :)  My doc's office doesn't do a u/s period until 20-ish weeks. (My "official" was at 17 weeks)

    I'm sure you aren't planning on stocking the nursery after this u/s anyway.
