Yet another sleep related question

Last week I decided to keep track of when Bunny sleeps to see if there was a pattern. There's not, really, except that roughly two hours after he wakes up he goes back to sleep, but the sleep is never the same length or times or anything.

I am in no way interested in any kind of manipulation of his pattern just yet. He's got growth and he's tiny and he's more and more alert during his waking times, so I'm not at all concerned for him.

I'm just curious when your LO fell into a predictable sleep pattern, if at all.

TIA!

Re: Yet another sleep related question

  • Trevor just started to get into some type of predictable sleep pattern within the last couple of months.  For a long, long time, it kept varying so much for him.  It wasn't really untill he dropped down to two/three naps a day.  The only predictable part before was his morning wake up time and his bedtime.

  • Haha, I'd say it became more noticeable around 10-ish months.  He always took a morning, afternoon, and late afternoon nap from the time it did more consistent but they were never the same times.  Now he is in the inbetween of one and two naps.  Night sleep became predictable at about 4 months then at  months all hell broke loose and it was all over the place again.

  • Ten months ... it wasn't until she got down to one nap a day that she got super predictable.
  • I think DS started to get into a pattern around 4-5 months, but just when I would kind of get it figured out he changed it up again.  The joy of babies!

  • DS slept every 2 hours at that age too :)

I think it was closer to 4-5 months when his sleep became much more predictable. We were on vacation at 5.5 months, and we had 3 definite naps and I knew roughly how long they would last so I know it happened before that.

  • still waiting...

I do wish she would just nap (at all) without me holding her... but I don't mind the lack of solid schedule. I know people who have a super strict nap schedule/routine and they can't go places b/c of naps. I can do pretty much whatever.... she naps just find being worn, so we can do almost anything.

    What Lottie said.

I will say now that we're at 2 naps he's much more predictable with naps. He had been semi-predictable at 3 but it would change every few weeks it seemed.

  • I guess how much M sleeps is still unpredictable, but the times when he falls asleep and naps are predictable within about a 30 min. range. This all started about 6 mos.   I still want to believe his amount of sleep should effect the length of him being awake, but alas, that has not proven true yet.

  • My son is still not very predictable with regards to napping. Bedtime falls into a range of 11pm-12am and that is pretty consistent but other than that, we just follow his lead.
