higher heartrate in pregnancy?

Is this normal? I feel like my heart is beating fast today and my heart rate is a little above 100, which is high isnt it? should I be concerned?  I am having a little anxiety today, does that raise your heartrate?

Re: higher heartrate in pregnancy?

  • i am currently wearing a heart monitor for this reason.  under 120 isn't too bad...althouhg over 100 is getting high.  but it sounds like it can be normal for some pregnant ladies.

if you are concerned (like i am) tell your dr.  mine had me see a cardiologist and they did an ultrasound, bloodwork and now i'm wearing this monitor.  hopefully i'll get the all clear soon, but just being cautious in the meantime. :)

  • It's normal to have a higher heart rate d/t extra blood running through your system, but 100 does seem kind of high.  I would lay down and relax for a few minutes and see if it gets better.  Try drinking some water as well, your heart has to work a little harder if you are dehydrated.
  • My doctor said it can be normal in pregnancy for some people.  And yes anxiety can make your heartrate higher.  I've had heart palpitations and fast heartrate from time to time with both my pregnancies and my dr. said it's nothing to be concerned about unless I feel dizzy or black-out.  I would call your doctor just to ease your mind but I wouldn't worry too much.  Smile

  • Do you know what your resting heart rate was before you got pg? I know mine was 58 bpm and now it's 80. 100 does seem high, but it's all relative to what's normal for you. I would call your doc.
