Feeding Triplets

I am wondering when it is you were able to feed all three together? Also how did you go about propping the bottles? My babies are almost 10 weeks. I would love to start feeding them together but I think they may still be a little young for that. Also we are formula feeding only.  Any tips would help! Thanks! :)

Re: Feeding Triplets

  • I was able to feed all three of mine at around 12 weeks. They were VERY hard to feed in the beginning, and it took three people to feed, but now it's a piece of cake :)

I put two in Boppies and the other one in my lap. I sit cross legged on the couch with a Boppy on either side of me and 1 baby in my lap. I just use a folded up burp pad to prop the bottles on the Boppy. It took a bit of time to perfect, but now we have it down. You'll just have to get used to burping with one hand, and juggling the babies around a bit, but once you get the hang of it it makes life a lot easier. Good luck! :)

  • I think we started propping around 3 months. We used bunched up baby blankets and/or the milk maid thingy's. Good luck!

  • Yes you can do it, it is difficult to do but once you get the hang of it, it can be done.

I would sit on the floor, Indian style with two on my the bends of my legs and one in the middle of my legs and manage to hold three bottles.

For the most part I only did this WHEN I had to, I did prop bottles and have them in their bouncie seats and I got the podee bottles.. those were a life safer

  • their adjusted age is 5 weeks. They were born at 35 weeks 2 days. I have tried the boppy and propping with a receiving blanket with my good eater and he eats but when he is finished the blanket is soaked like half of the feeding is getting on the blanket! I just need to perfect it. Right now we feed 2 and then 1 about a half an hour later. Did anyone try it with high chairs reclined? I was thinking that might work using the tray to help prop. any thoughts?

Thank you very much for the input! :)

  • We really couldn't feed them together until they were older - more than 6 months old.  They were fussy eaters, needed to be burped a lot and didn't have a huge interest in eating.  We could never prop - they would just spit it out, wiggle away.
  • I did it ONLY when I absolutely had to starting around 12 weeks. But it was awful and I'd always end up feeding one more later. Really wasn't until about 6 months that they had the hang of it.
