Pregnant after a Loss

Something besides Ginger Ale?

I haven't really been able to drink anything besides Ginger Ale for days now. It helps keep my stomach calm. I'm worried about dehydrating though. Anyone have suggestion for other things to drink that might keep my stomach calm- or at least not bother it? Or other ways to get liquid in me.

Re: Something besides Ginger Ale?

  • I've had decent luck with lemonade, or lemonade/water combo, or lemon-line gatorade cut with water.

  • I don't know why, but chocolate milk (the kind you buy not the kind you mix) and gatorade both worked for me.

I'm sorry about your tummy!  Morning sickness SUCKS.

I also recommend sucking on hard candies - I found that lemon-flavored ones helped and I could sometimes keep water down.

  • Lemon Lime Gatoraid has been my saving grace! I've been getting carsick every time I get into the car and it helps almost immediately, I also drink it when I start getting nausea and it usually helps. I still can't even look at water. Good luck!

  • Stash makes a lemon ginger tea that is fantastic both iced or hot.  I also liked peppermint tea, and just ice water with a lemon slice.

  • Minute Maid pink lemonade worked for me for a while; it is a bit high in calories so you may want to water it down a bit. Right now, all I can sort of stomach is icy, icy water.

  • I've been drinking lots of apple juice and eating lots of apples.  For some reason it calms my stomach.  I've also been drinking a lot of kool-aid.  Plain water is hard to stomach most days.  Also, have you tried pears or watermelon?

  • Lemon water... or, Target has REALLY amazing italian sodas.  Sooooo good.  Peach pear and strawberry pomegranate.  They're "dry" enough that they are too rich.

  • Lemonade (Newman's Own Organic is my fave), soda water/seltzer with a lime, root beer or Gatorade/Water mix are what I turn to when I'm sick of regular water.
