How much to pay babysitter for OOT wedding? - more detail added

My brother is getting married in March and the wedding is in a town 45 minutes from where we live.  We only need a sitter from 6PM - 10PM since my parents have agreed to watch DS beginning at 10PM.  I have a work friend that watches DS from time-to-time, who is willing to watch him for me.

In the past, I have paid this person $10/hr or $50/night for 5 hours or more.  I tried to pay her $12/hr, but she felt that was too much and set-up the other arrangement.

How much do you think would be a reasonable amount to pay a sitter, factoring in 1.5 total drive time, gas, and mileage?

We are thinking $75 - $100?  What do you think would be reasonable?  FWIW, I do not live in a high cost of living area or major metro area.  TIA!

ETA:  She will not be attending the wedding, which is in the afternoon.  She will be driving 45 minutes to watch DS at the hotel from 6PM - 10PM and then driving 45 minutes back home. She will be driving herself both ways and will not be staying the night.

  • So the sitter is going to the wedding with you?  Is she attending the wedding or keeping the kids at the hotel for you?  Is she driving up herself and the driving back at 10?  Or staying in the hotel.  I need more details...

  • more details please

75 - 100 is a good range, but depends on if she's driving or not

  • Going with the $10/hour.... $60 for her time (I made each 45 min drive an hour) plus an additional $20 for the effort, gas, etc.
