Full-size mattress?

I know this has been discussed before but I'm an idiot and didn't pay attention.  Coupled with the lack of search function, I'm asking again....

Even though he's still in his crib and hopefully will be for a few more months, we want to start pricing out full-size mattresses for Benjamin's big boy bed.  DH suggested that I "check with my peeps on the cult"  (lol) for any recs of places that had good prices and great customer service.  So - any recs?

 TIA!

Re: Full-size mattress?

  • Ikea seems to have a really nice mattress selection.  Maybe check the paper for sales?  Seems like I'm always seeing mattress sales being advertised.

  • We bought Gavin's at Ikea.  Nothing fancy- just a simple foam mattress.  It's firm but comfortable.  It is a twin size and I liked that it was just rolled up and vacuum sealed so we just took it home ourselves- no truck required.  Not sure if you would need a truck for the full size ones.  Now if you want to go for a more traditional mattress, we had great success at Mattress Firm yesterday.  They were having a pretty good sale, but I think it's over today.  They are always running some kind of special though.  I was especially impressed with the delivery.  We picked it out at 11:30 am yesterday and they set delivery for 8-11pm last night.  At 7 pm, the delivery guy called and APOLOGIZED for running early and asked if they could come in 20 min.  Uhhhhh YES!  So we were really pleased with our experience.

  • We've used American Signature Furniture since we purchased a bed from them.  Great experience!  Also you might want to look into getting a queen bed because they are not to much bigger than the full and it is easier to find sheet sets for queens versus full.  Also you pay about the same price for full and queen sheets. Just fyi!
  • Thanks ladies.

missmlp - he has a convertible crib that converts to full-size so yep, not spending more for the queen size bed but thanks! :-)

Oh, ok makes sense!  Happy shopping.

  • We got two of our mattresses from The Original Mattress Factory.  They are located off Delk Rd (right off the exit off 75).  They had a great customer services and really good prices.  They literally make the mattresses in a factory on site so I guess that is why they have really good prices.  And the two mattresses we got from them are really comfortable.

  • we got our queen bed from Cloud 9 mattress outlet. they where awesome, they didnt have the bed we wanted in stock so they upgraded us to the $699 bed and gave us free shipping, and we only ended up paying $50 bucks (this is for mattress and boxspring i know some places sell them separately)more for the better matress (we ended up paying $400  for a $700 bed) i know a full or a double as we call it back home for much cheaper then that. but they are home of the $299 pillow top, totally worth the vist. we went in shortly after they opened on a Saturday and had our bed delivered same day by 3pm.

    Good Luck

  • I think we got ours at mattress firm.  Went to a lot of those places.  Have you been to BJ's or Costco to see there selection.  Just make sure at those matress places if you need a box spring that it matches.  When we bought our king they told us that wasn't in the deal.  I blew my top and got what I wanted.  Just clarify that when wheeling and dealing.
  • I've gotten mattresses at Mattress Firm (on Ponce?) and Macy's at Perimeter.  Both good service- Mattress Firm was a better deal.
