Re: Monday Mommies/Mommies to Be Check In.

  • Jess - Thanks for doing the update.

I am feeling well BH are much stronger and I am hoping for  big numbers this afternoon. My hips are killing me today and I am very happy to be home.

We will celebrate all of the standard holidays although we won't be going over the top on anything. I think that it is important to celebrate but that celebrations don't always mean gifts etc.

I can't wait to celebrate Baby B's first St. Paddy's Day! We have an outfit and my parents have a large party at their house. It is about really enjoying our family, friends and heritage.

  • my due date is 9/9

we celebrate christmas, easter, birthdays , valentines day

  • We plan on making holidays about teh CELEBRATION, not the gifts. The only thing we really exchange gifts for is xmas. But we plan on recognizing Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, St. Patricks day, Easter, the 4th, halloween, and thanksgiving.

I like that Kara did the day in december, that was really cool. It was in her blog.

  • We do a lot for holidays.  Traditions are really important to me, so I'm trying to carry on some that we did as children but also tie in new ones.  Yesterday, for example, we started the day off with pink, heart shaped strawberry pancakes.  :)  We definitely stress the importance of the day and being together with family.  I'm just a holiday type of girl, I think.  I like to celebrate them all!

  • Hi ladies, Jess, thanks for doing this!

We celebrate the major holidays and I plan on keeping up some of the traditions that we had in my & DH's family.  I like the focus to be on spending time with family and traditions, and not just all about the presents.

And I'm sure St. Patty's Day will be a fun one as DH's (step) Grandfather is Irish and is alredy insisting that I have the baby on March 17th!

  • You can add me- 8/17/10.
  • We plan on incorporating the traditions we both grew up with but plan on making our own traditions as a family too.  DH and I go to Allegany for a picnic every Memorial Day and Labor day and it's one of my favorite holidays to "celebrate" because it's all about just us being together.  I hope we continue this with our own family.  I also remember my Mom making the holidays special for us when we were young- whether it be a special breakfast (we always got pancakes in the shape of the letters in our name for our birthday!) or traditions leading up to the holidays....those were the special memories of my childhood.  I hope we continue the "small" things to make memories with our own family.
  • We will do the basic holiday celebrations but we really like 4th of July..so we might make that a special one in our house...

Also, birthdays were huge for me as a child (m mom would wake me up at midnight...and we'd do a little party and I always got to do whatever I wanted and I didnt have to go to school on that day :-) and I will continue to do that for Lorenzo ...

Oh and Lorenzo arrived on 1/14/10...

  • Hi all, we plan to celebrate most holidays with LO. My family likes any excuse for a party, so Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

We're getting ready to register in the coming weeks and Babies R Us is so overwhelming! Also, we have our 20 week ultrasound tomorrow. Trying my hardest to stay team green!!

  • Can you add me as well? I'm due 8/05.

As for holidays... I'm really excited to start some new traditions unique to our family. we'll celebrate: Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, St. Patricks day, Valentines day, the 4th of July, possibly mardi gras... I think it'd be neat to research and celebrate holidays from other countries (like one foreign holiday a year). I always wonder what those holidays are about on my calendar...

  • Hello all!

We plan on celebrating all major holidays.  My DH was a Jehovah's witness when he was little and he thought holdiays were things you did in school, not at home.  Now that he no longer is a JW (stopped in highschool), he wants to make sure that our child celebrates all holidays as a family.  Hopefully this baby's birthday will be right around 4th of July as that is such a huge holiday in our family.  My mom and stepdad were married on that day and we always have a big party!
