Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Have you switched to hard spouted sippy cups?

If so, when and how did you transition? We are still doing the soft spout nuby type cups, and I want to eventually switch over.

  • We never used soft spout ones, so I think you'll be fine.

How many teeth does she have?

  • DS would never drink out of the soft ones, so he has had the hard ones since 10 months or so.

He prefers the ones with the straws, though. Have you tried those yet?

  • He has all of his teeth except the two year molars. But he still loves chewing on the spout of the sippy cup and walking around with it hanging out of his mouth. I feel like the hard topped cups are more leak proof than the soft ones so that is part of my reason to switch.

  • DS refuses to touch hard spouts. He'll drink from a regular cup though. I'd prefer to use hard spouts, but I guess it'll be a while, if ever.

  • My boys would always just play around with the soft-spout sippies; we actually went straight to straw sippies (the Munchkin kind) at 12m and they did well with them. Straw cups are supposed to be better for oral/speech development too so since they took to them well, I figured we might as well.

  • We started off with them right after the bottle. DD was never a fan of the soft spout ones and the dog would get a hold of them and chew the spout off. lol

  • a few months ago we did. i just bought two cups w/hard lids and gave them to him. there were no problems. actually i go back and forth between that and the soft ones. timmy doesn't seem to care so i give him whatever is clean. he also will do the straw ones.
