I just found out that my friend is getting married in November this year, and I am due to deliver in August. I'm in the wedding party so I'll need to order a dress, but I'm just curious what happened to you guys after birth? 3 months later are you starting to get back to normal? Wondering about sizing issues for the dress.
If it helps, I'll be 22 years old and have always had a high metabolism. I am 5'6" and weigh 123 lbs pre pregnancy.
Re: weight question
Its really hard to tell. Everyone is different, but if it helps by me telling you how I was, ok.
I was 115lbs before baby
Was 155 when I gave birth
When LO was 3 months, I was about 120.
I also EBF.
Everyone is different, but I gained 20 lbs. with my pregnancy, lost it all the first week, and I've lost an additional 15. I'm a size smaller than I was pre-pregnancy.
I attribute it to BFing because I'm still pretty much eating whatever I want, but I know BFing doesn't have the same affect on everyone.
Everyone's body is different but something tells me you will be fine and lost it all quickly.
::::Rubs my crystal ball::::
Personally I'm still losing my baby weight and I'm about 4 months PP now. Maybe it has a lot to do with FF along with being at the higher end of average weight for my age/height when I got pregnant.

Don't rely on losing weight from bf'ing....I only gained 20 lbs. while I was pregnant, (I'm 5'8" an started at 127 lbs.) lost 8 immediately after dd's birth and the proceeded to gain the 8 back plus another 5. Breastfeeding made me RAVENOUSLY hungry....
You will probably be one of those lucky biitches who loses weight super quickly
But don't count on BFing. I EBF and it literally has done NOTHING for me. And every time I tried to diet, my supply would plummet. Finally, four months pp, my supply seems to be handling the lower amount of calories really well and I'm starting to lose weight.
I'd buy at least a size up. That much can be taken in if need be. But you might be glad you have the extra 'room'. GL!
I was 140 Pre- Pregnancy and gained 28 lbs during pregnancy. By 2 weeks Post Partum I was down to 145 and at 3 months I was at 135. I also EBF. I would probably order 1 size up if it were me in this situation. You can always alter it to fit but you can't make a small dress larger.
I was back to my pp weight at about 2 mos pp and was like you. 5'6" and about 115 lbs pre pregnancy. I gained about 25-30 lbs total. I know that being in shape when I got pregnant and staying as fit as possible during my pregnancy is what got be back to prepregnancy weight quickly. Also, I will say that I didn't lose the last 5-10 lbs until I quit BFing. I think you're taking in so many more extra calories to produce that it's basically a wash. Once I threw in the towel with BFing, though, (this is a whole other story for me...lol), I dropped the last 5-10 in no time because I was eating substantially less without even realizing it.
If I were you I'd buy a size or two up and just have it altered a week before. You can always remove material but you cannot add it, right? Good luck!!

Like everyone else is saying, everyone is different. I used to work in the bridal industry though, and we were told that when it comes to alterations, it is ALWAYS easier to take a dress in than to let a dress out. So it's ok if you order a dress that's too big, that's fixable and I would suggest that. If you order one that's too small, you risk looking like that girl that tried to stuff herself into a dress that wasn't her size.
I was at my pre-pregnancy weight at 3 months PP. Actually I was 5 lbs from my pre-preg weight a week after I had DD. I gained over 30 lbs but most of my weight gain was from swelling, baby, etc. (But my pre-preg weight was 15-20 lbs higher than I wanted to be at!)
Everyone is different though, so it's hard to say. I would order it a little bigger. It's definitely easier to take it in than let it out (if it's even possible).
124 before pregnancy (5'5")
gained 50+ lbs.
at 4 months pp, I now weigh 126
Breastfeeding
BUT even though I weigh just about what I was before, there is more in the middle of my body - my belly, my butt, and my hips... My clothes fit differently.
