Really need to eat more protein and need ideas.
What are your favorite snacks and or meals that are good for you adn baby?
I have never liked yogurt always seems too tangy/sour. But i know it'sgood for you. Is there a brand and or flavor that isn't as sour/tangy that I can try?
Thanks
Re: Need to eat more protein, give me some ideas...
The yoplait custard style is really sweet, but the texture is not as liquidy (it's like custard. I'm a fan but some people find that gross) I like the vanilla flavor best.
As for protein I'm a huge fan of hummus. I like to eat it on whole wheat crackers. I feel like I'm getting a ton of fiber between the crackers and the hummus plus the protein from the chickpeas in the hummus.
Seeds, nuts, and beans - I snack on almonds.
Hummus is a good source as is peanut butter. Are you looking for protein high snacks or in your meals? Do you eat eggs? Cheese?
Sorry just reread original post.
Are you a vegetarian? Or do you eat meat? Lean meats are easy way to get protein. I eat eggs for extra protein. Simple meals include tacos with beans, stirfry with lean meat or tofu, and generic american dinner of meat, grain, and vegetable. We do a lot of soups with beans.

I make myself eggs in the morning. Omlets, tacos, sandwiches -- there's a million different ways to prepare and season eggs so you never get sick of them and they've got plenty of protein.
Also, like many others have said, snacking on nuts is a good plan. I keep peanuts around the house all the time because my husband loves them too. And at night I'll sometimes make a snack of peanut butter spread on a whole wheat tortilla and I'll zap it in the microwave for 15 seconds. Sometimes I add Nutella too if I want a chocolaty nutty flavor. NOM!
For some reason i'm not a fan of meat or chicken and can't stand the smell of eggs.
I do eat the string cheese and the nurse said try nuts ( almonds) and cottage cheese and yogurt.
I dont like yogurt and i'm getting tired of the mozzarella string cheese and cottage cheeset, thats why i need ideas. For snacks and or meals.
I would love to try Hummus but not sure which brand to get. I tried ( a year ago twice to find one i like) the athenos original and the garlicky one and the original one was so bland and the garlic one was really way too much garlic. I like garlic but that was too much and i like a little spice but afraid to try the other ones not sure if it will be too spicy.
Any good hummus brands nd flavors you all recommend?
Try getting Gogurt. It's for kids but it still contains the live "good" bacteria. I freeze the little sticks and it makes a tastey popcicle. I dont like regular yogurt either.
Also for protein.... Peanut butter and Apples.. Peanut butter/toast....Almonds..Any nut really...
Some things I snack on regularly are: Apples/PB, PB toast, Grilled Cheese (on wheat, very healthy), Fruit salad (make my OWN big container full of fresh cut grapes, strawberries, apples) and eat on it for a few days... Gogurt, cheddar cheese & wheat thins, Applesauce, Whole grain Cheerios cereal, bananas, broccoli and cheese.
And for big meals, I eat broccoli or buy a package of Spring Mix lettuce (dark leafs, very good for you!) and eat those with some sort of dinner like a pasta meal - I like to buy frozen ready meals, like garlic shrimp pasta, or chicken pasta and then I add my own fresh side of veggies or a salad. I like making my own baked chickens, mashed potatos, steak and veggies....
When I'm out of ideas I usually opt for healthy choice's tomato soup (lower sodium, no msg) and a grilled cheese sandwich. I might even throw on some romane lettuce and tomato on the sandwich.
Yuuum. Yup, there is nothing better than a delicious New York steak still bleeding all over my plate. :drools::
Try soy yogurt. You'll still get the protein and skip out on the tangy-ness of regular dairy yogurt.
I normally hate yogurt too but I found that I like this: I buy plain and add granola, cereal (anything crunchy), fruit, jam, sugar or a combination of the above. For hummus, it is basically chickpeas - which btw are good roasted in the oven with salt or mexican seasoning on them - you can find a bunch of recipes online but basically you put them in a blender with a few ingredients (spices and if you like, red peppers, etc). Also you can make fruit or ice cream shakes with milk. Lentils may also be a good source of protein if you like them. GL!

I'm not a huge fan of Athena hummus. I like a brand called Sala (or Salsa, can't remember - it has a red lid and I get it at Publix). Try that one. I dip pretzels in it. Yummo!
As for yogurt, try the kind that comes with granola on top - Yo Crunch I think it is called. I find yogurt better with some crunch to it! Or just buy whatever brand and add your own granola.
YUMM.
