spit-up vs. vomit?

What is the difference, as in how can you tell? LO never really did either much before but tonight, something came up 3 times in a row. Kinda concerned just because its not her norm...thx

    well spit up usually comes up in small amounts. Vomit comes up in large amounts.

    also, for DS anyway, spit up tends to be more liquidy and vomit is curdled and smells absolutely awful.

    Yeah spit up is like small amounts. Kinda either drips out the side of her mouth or if its a little more it comes out and gets all over her clothes. Vomit on the other hand is more like an open mouth, tongue out, formula all over the place. You'd know the difference if it happened.

    Spit up can happen in large volumes.  Vomit is projectile, and usually smells bad.
