Do I have to do a smash cake?

I've never heard of this before the bump.  But then again, I've never heard of a lot of things before the bump.

Would a smash cupcake be cheesy?  It's not like she's going to eat the whole cake anyway.

WDYT?  Am I being a birthday scrooge?  LOL!

  • No, I think the cupcake would be cute too!

  • I think we'll just do a cupcake or a piece of the regular cake.

  • I have seen people just do a cupcake before. I think its fine. They don't eat very much of it anyway they just make a mess! lol

  • Or it doesn't have to be fancy. You can do a cake out of a box in a round pan and then frost that. That is what we have always done in my family. Although, I think I might try the giant cupcake this time.

  • I'm giving DD a cupcake like everyone else will have- she's never had sugar before, so I'm not too keen on giving her an entire cake, plus she's a craptastic eater so I don't see her even eating it!
  • We're doing a smash cupcake.  It will be the same as the rest of the cupcakes, but it'll have her name on it or something.
  • All of the parties we have gone to the child gets a piece of the big cake to mush up and get messy with.

  • I think DS will just be getting a cupcake. I'm going to make a couple different flavored batches as the dessert, and then ice one of each in a "special" way for DS. So if he doesn't like one flavor (he'll be getting chocolate for the first time that day) we have a backup (or two.)
