GC's page about Lilly Pulitzer made me think of this.
I was a size 2 pre-pregnancy.
Will I ever be a size 2 again?
I don't necessarily care, but I am trying to decide what I should do with all of my clothes. Do I keep them and dream that they will one day fit or should I start replacing them with a 4 or 6?
ETA: Most of my friends who have kids have struggled to lose the pregnancy weight and are still 15+ lbs heavier even up to 2 or 3 years later.
Re: Did you ever go back to your pre-pregnancy size?
I am also wondering this. Although I'm not a size 2...
I am not. I am 10 lbs heavier and don't see ever losing it, unless I unexpectedly become a SAHM. I just do not have the time to exercise and honestly, I don't mid so much. Everyone says I looked to skinny anyway.
I'm going to purge all my pre-preg clothes in the spring.
I did. It took several months though, because my hips took forever to go back down (and my ribs... thanks for habitating there Nathan). LOL
BFF is also a stick like me and she's managed to go back to a size 2 after both of her pregnancies. I'm interested to see if she gets that lucky a third time after this one.
Keep your pre-pg clothes but buy a few pairs of 4s and 6s to wear until your hips go back to normal.
It just depends on the article of clothing.
Having a baby doesn't mean you'll forever weigh more than you did pre-PG, but it could mean your body will be shaped different.
I'm back in all my old clothes with the exception of several shirts that won't button across my chest anymore.

I'm still 9lbs over.
Even if you lose the weight, your body will be different. Likely, your hips will be wider. I wouldn't get rid of anything yet.
Every person is different though. If breastfeeding works out, that will be a big help. If you're bfing. I pumped for four weeks, and then stopped. And that's when I stopped losing weight. The other 11lbs was through diet and exercise and time.
The last nine...well...I hope I get KU soon so I can stop thinking about it.
This. I weigh less now than I did when I got pregnant with DS, but all my weight shifted to the front. I hate it. Advice: sit-ups are your pp friend.

Damnit. I didn't think my hips could get any wider!!
I was a size 2 pre-pregnancy and I'm definitely back there (DD is 9 months). I know I might get shot for saying this, but I'm actually smaller now than I was right before I got pg. I have just weaned my DD, so I think that played a huge role in it. DO NOT get rid of your clothes (unless you want to give them to me. We are in the same city and all!
, you will wear them again one day (although, don't try your jeans on a couple of weeks after delivery. I have a couple of pairs of Sevens that I spent way too much money on and I was determined to get back into them. I tried them on one month PP and it was the most depressing thing I've ever done. I can happily wear them now, though!)
Wow - long rant. Sorry!
With my son I was a size 6 and 3 days later I could wear my clothes, but I had only gained 18 lbs. With my first daughter it took 4 months to get back to a size 8 because I gained 70 lbs or so lol. I did get back to a size 4 later, so pregnancy didn't change my body so much that I couldn't wear a smaller size, it just takes time to get back to a size that small.
With this baby I was back to beginning weight in about 3 weeks, but I only gained about 22 lbs and she was early by 4.5 weeks. Also, I am not a size 6-8 anymore and really don't want to try to get back to it lol. I enjoy eating too much.
I'd love to have some hips.
Pre-surgery I was built like a 10 year old boy then the removal of my ovary somehow gave me boobs...Other than those, pre-pregnancy I was still built like a 10 year old boy, and I wish I was kidding.
Not from personal experience, but from what I've seen of friends, it is kind of "hit-or-miss" & has a lot to do with genes.
I've known some girls that are pre-pregnancy weight & size, wearing pre-pregnancy clothing as early as 2 weeks PP.
I've also known girls that never lose the baby weight, some carry more than others, but they are always heavier than pre-pregnancy.
& I've known girls that reach pre-pregnancy weight on the scale, but can't fit in pre-pregnancy clothes - they are just built different after baby.
I know this doesn't really answer the purge or keep question, but maybe it will help in some way
I was 10-12 pre pg
I am now a 4
I didn't think mine could either. WRONG.

I must be the only person who finds this statement kind of
-worthy.
I mean, 1.) why would you start replacing them now and 2.) who's to say you won't end up *gasp* a size 8 or 10 when all is said and done?
;-P

Oh THIS too. Thing will never fit the same for me again. Hips widen, belly gets flabby (at least with a c-section), etc

I don't think she's saying a 4 or 6 is big. She just wants to be able to wear her old jeans again one day. There's nothing wrong with that no matter what size you are.
I have Grave's Disease, so honestly, chances are I won't end up more than 10 lbs over. Up until now, I've lost weight so quickly that even with my my meds I struggle to keep weight on.
Realistically, I'll probably never be bigger than a 6 just because of the Graves.
I was thinking since there were a lot of sales right now I'd grab a few things in bigger sizes.
ETA: Also what Leslie said. I don't think anything above a 6 is big. I just know that with my body and the Graves anything bigger than a 6 is probably unrealistic for me personally.
First, I hate you Steph.
Second, I was size 8 pp. I am now size 12. I weigh the exact same...but everything has shifted so I carry my weight differently.
Makes sense ;-) I wasn't trying to be a butt but that just sounded kind of funny to me.

I haven't yet, but my pgs were pretty back to back. Heck, I was only out of maternity clothes a month or two before I got pg again. But I have not worked at all at losing weight.
But one of my friends is a size 4 and was back to that 4 mo after her baby was born (I hate her

I always come up with the most random concerns.
Seriously.
I haven't worried more than a second my entire pregnancy...
...but damnit I need to know if I should buy the winter sale clothes
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
And you look damn good! Lol.
