Well, since I have been having some glucose/ketones in my urine, I got to go see the back-up OB. Lots of fun. First, the 19 year-old nurse was just a gem. Here are a few quotes from her: "You have 5 weeks left, good luck with that." "Is it twins? Really, just one baby in there?" I could go on.
Blood pressure was a little higher than normal for me about 130/80, course it may have been the charming conversation leading up to taking it.
So then doc comes in and decides to do an internal, was not expecting that. Lovely, cervix is high, no progress and she thinks baby's head is down. She also says the baby is big for being 35 weeks. Or feels big. Whatever, I have faith in my vag.
So I ask her about my urine test. No glucose but a ton of ketones. She asked me when I last ate and I said about 3 hours ago, and that I was hungry but forgot to bring a snack. She told me that I had enough ketones in my urine that it would suggest it had been days since I last ate (ketones indicate you are burning fat reserves).
So I get to have liver panel run to check for possible warning of Pre-E. I get to a 24 hour urine collection. The 3 hour GTT and who knows what else.
I have been trying to eat so healthy, watching my sugars, eating complex carbs, not gaining too much weight. I have no swelling whereas with James I looked like a blowfish walking on tree trunks. I am beyond frustrated.
I called DH in the car and told him about the ketones and he said said damn the diet, your body is starving, just get something to eat and let's eat normally again. He's right. I put so much effort into the perfect diet that it takes me forever to cook something and eat and I'm usually still hungry.
Anyway, I am frustrated and could use hugs.

This is what I'm saying! I hate b*tchy nurses too.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
Awe, I'm sorry for the lousy appointment. And did you tell the nurse where she can shove it???
And screw the diet. You only have a few weeks left before you get to meet your baby, a couple extra pounds won't hurt you.
TONS of hugs! You've earned them. What a crappy day. I'm with your DH. You can still be healthy without being perfect, and obviously this trying to be perfect isn't getting you anywhere. Good luck with all the tests!
