We have a sweet kitty. He was our baby before DD was born. We played with him nonstop until she came home. Now, I barely have time to pet him. I EBF and take care of everything by myself (DH is OOT for 6 months). The cat has been peeing and pooping on my bed for the past week. I can't deal with it, it is so disgusting to me. I've done everything the vet has suggested and he still does it. I know someone will flame me but I want to find him a new home. The cat wants what I can't give and is ruining my bed (and my life!). How much damage to your home would you take before you considered finding your pet a new home? I'm really upset about this because we love him, but he WILL NOT STOP.

Maybe you could get some help... do you have family in town or anyone that could play with your kitten every now and then? When my days are super busy, I have a college girl that's our neighbor walk my dog a few times those days so he still gets some exercise and attention. I know it's frustrating, especially since she's making a mess in your house, but I think you will be really sad if you give her up. She's still your baby, she's just having trouble adjusting.

That's pretty sad. We have two cats (12 yrs & 4 yrs old respectively). The older one tends to poop on our bed if he's unhappy for any reason, so we don't allow either of them in the bedrooms.

Is there a time during the day that you can allocate to the kitty? We snuggle as much as possible with the cats during our "down time" ie watching TV for a couple of hours after the bubs go to bed. They are accustomed to this time now, so much so that they actually stalk us around the house until we sit down lol. HTH

I lay down with him and play during DD's naps but he is used to sooooo much more attention. I am trying to play with him more but that requires me to put DD down and I feel like I'm ignoring her. It's a really tough situation because I love my cat....just can't deal with the peeing on my bed.

Our Bob (the cat) did that to DH's side of the bed a month ago. Thank heavens we have a liner. Since than Bob lost bedroom privledges and he hasn't peed anywhere else. I feel bad b/c he loved my room but with a toddler at home we have to lock most of the rooms anyway.

If I were you, I would try a closed door policy. Make sure your room and the other bedrooms are locked. It is a simple solution but it workd for us.

This is what I'm doing now. It sucks because I feel like I'm in jail now. I have to close all bedroom doors behind me. The cat peed on the kitchen floor too so.....ugggh, I am on edge because of all this.

Have you taken him to the vet to rule out anything medically? He may have a UTI and that is why he's peeing outside the letterbox. Cats don't normally pee outside the letterbox because of a lack of attention or jealously. There is usually something wrong.

You can try Cat Attract Litter. He may like a really clean litter box and you may need to make it a priority to clean it a couple of times a day.
Also you can use Nature's Miracle on the area's he's peed on as a deterrent.

He may also being stressed out. You can look into Feliway plugs an try that.

Your first reaction shouldn't be how to get rid of him. You made a commitment to him. Cats don't really take up that much time. I understand how hard it is w/ a baby. I know my cats don't get as much attention as they once did, but I do what I can.

It's not my first reaction, I'm at the end of options here.....I have called the vet and done everything she suggested regarding the litter, plug ins, etc. He is acting out behaviorally according to the dr. My cat does require a lot of time and attention. He's not getting it, that is why he is acting out.
