  • I was just researching this morning.

Here is the website with the info from the CA Employment Development Department.

I don't qualify for the FMLA either so it looks like I will file for short term disability, then PFL depending on how long I can receive SDI. I plan on calling sometime this week and talking to someone, so if you want I can send you whatever information I get.

  • You still qualify I believe! Check out the EDD, or try CA disability. You just have to "intend" to return to work. I believe they go by your average income from like 6 mo. prior to your leave. You qualify to start disability without a medical excuse at 36 weeks, you Dr. has some paperwork to sign, they send you a form to send back when you deliver and then automatically switch you 6 weeks (I think you get 8 weeks for c/s) from delivery from the disability to PFL. You don't pay taxes on the disability since you "pay into" the fund with your checks, but you get a 1099 for the 6 weeks of PFL. If you can't find anything call your OB and they should have the forms or web address.

  • You should also check out www.paidfamilyleave.org in case it helps.
  • Thanks ladies... it looks like I have a lot of homework to do this evening.
