I was just thinking about this last night. Ds has had a ton of colds and I think the first cold was the only time I took him to the dr. I see a lot of people on the boards taking lo to dr. for colds. At what point do you take them in? I guess ds has never had a bad enough one to warrant.
Re: Just, curious at what point do you take lo to dr for a cold?
The only colds I ever took DS in for was when he had RSV (he was wheezing) and when he had a persistant fever (he had an ear infection).
He's in daycare, so he's had about a zillion colds.

I've never taken D in for just a cold (runny nose, cough, sneezing). If there is a temp I would probably call the doc for advice and see if they want to see him. Or, in the case of what we had going on yesterday, when we had crazy green eye goop we called and they said to take him to urgent care (he has an eye infection and an ear infection).
But with simple cold symptoms, there isn't anything the doc can do, so I wouldn't take D in.
i wouldn't take dd unless she had a fever that won't go down or was very lethargic.
luckily dd has never been all that sick (knock on wood) aside from the occasional runny nose.
If it's strictly limited to a runny nose, light cough-I'll call, but only bring in if they ask me to.
Add a fever, ear pulling and additional miserableness and they almost always ask to see her.

She had an ear infection once where she blew out her eardrum so I take her at any sign of an ear infection/super clogged. I'll also take her if she has a cough lasting more than a couple of days.
