Getting conflicting registry advise

So my SIL and a few of my friends have looked over my registries and offered their advice.

My SIL is horrified that I registered for a breast pump and said, "You don't register for that! You buy that yourself!" Making me feel totally crude for putting it on there. She told me to take it off twice. 

I'm confused because all my girlfriends have gotten their breast pumps through their registries, and they seem to be on every registry for every baby shower I've been to.  My girlfriends are telling me to add more this or that to my breast pump accessories.

So my question is.....who is right? What do I do? TIA

    I think I've seen it on all of my friends' registries.  I personally think I'll buy my own.  I don't mind other people registering for them, but to me it's a personal thing that I'd rather buy on my own.  But I really think I'm in the minority on this one :)  It's my puritanical upbringing!  My mom won't say the word "bra" to me.

    does your SIL have children? maybe she feels awkward, but nobody should! leave it on there, and tell her that it's customary now to put all of these things on the registry!

    Yes, she has two and breastfed both of them!!! It's so weird. She also told me my insurance would pay for it, which I will call about, but I find that highly unlikely.

    This. ?Maybe she's just old fashioned. ?My MIL was shocked when she saw I had a breast pump on my registry. ?In my case, I didn't register for it expecting someone to buy it for me (because really no one will). ?I put it on there so I could use my completion coupon on it. ??

    I've seen them on tons of registries.  I think your sister is a little off on this.  What if someone in your family wants to get it for you?  Shouldn't they get to see what brand, etc, you want?  I don't really see her logic on this one.

    I might register for a breast pump, but I was looking at the breast pads thinking my friends are suck jokesters I don't want want them on my registry.  My guy friends would buy those for me in a second.
