If you used CDs with a newborn, a question

Did you need doublers with a newborn? I'm looking to buy a CD off a registry for a friend's shower, and I want to get her a "complete" diaper. She's registered for Thirsties, so I'm going to get her a fitted and a cover, but do I need a doubler? Seems to me that we changed diapers so often in the beginning that it might not be needed.

I would say no. We used newborn prefolds and thirsties covers, never needed anything extra.

You are correct. They are changed so often in the beginning that doublers aren't needed. That's for when they are older.

I never used doublers, b/c like you said, we changed them every 2 hours (and usually sooner b/c he pooped ALL THE TIME!!!!) By the way, that's nice of you to buy her those!

I didn't start using a doubler until after we quit using Kissaluvs and prefolds, which is what we primarily used during the newborn stage. At night, we switched to our pocket diapers (Bum Genius), so I did use a hemp insert starting around 2.5 months, but then I realized it was easier to just move up to the bigger BG insert.
