I need your opinion on a business matter

I just moved into my new studio last week (photography). Dh thinks I should send one big huge mass email to all my clients (past, present and future) to let them know about the new studio, how weekends book up fast etc etc. I personally don't want to only because I know how I feel about mass emails.

Would you be annoyed if a photographer (or really any service) that you worked with in the past emailed you with news like that? Or would you want to know?

FWIW I also have it announced on my blog and website.

If it's just going to be one e-mail it wouldn't bother me. E-mails every week would make me nuts.

I think a one-time "Hey, check out my new studio" e-mail blast is completely appropriate.

Would it be too expensive to send out flyers or cards? I just think a mass email might not reach everyone since a lot of people have filters blocking mail sent to a lot of people. Personally, I wouldn't be offended if I received something like that, I just think a mailed flyer would catch my attention more. JMO!

Yes. I tend to automatically delete emails from companies that aren't directly addressed to me. I wouldn't be annoyed but I also wouldn't know you moved.

Do you have the budget for a mailout? Well, the budget and the time. When I get post about such things, as long as it's not a flyer, I always read it. Maybe this is an option?

I think in honor of opening a new studio you should have a contest for all previous clients for a one hour free shoot or something. This way it can be an email about your new studio AND a way to keep them interested...

My wedding photographer sends monthly e-mails and I got married almost 5 years ago. I don't mind it at all. They always have one photography tip an update about his business and a link to his blog/website with his most recent work.

As a marketer, I think you should do it. If people don't want to read it, they can delete it. Especially since this isn't something you normally do.
