Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Be honest - who's bought bigger pants?

I hate, hate, hate doing it, but I'm thinking about caving and buying a few pairs of pants that will actually fit. I'm so sick of my maternity pants that I could puke, and I can only fit in one pair of pre-pg pants. I don't go back to work for another month, but I would love to at least have a pair of jeans that I could comfortably button. And, to be perfectly honest, it's insanely hard to diet and/or exercise with a new baby, so I have no idea how long it will take me to lose the weight.

So, fess up. Have you given in and bought pants in a bigger size? Bonus points if you confess how many sizes you had to go up. Wink

Re: Be honest - who's bought bigger pants?

  • I went to the store and when a pair of jeans that were 3 sizes bigger than my pre-pregnancy size were tight I left!! ?I bought new workout clothes instead. ?

  • I was talking about this a few days ago! I highly recommend getting new pants to wear! You'll feel so much better then wearing maternity pants! I bought a pair of jeans like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I'm short and used to wear a size 1. I had to buy size 10! But I'll take that any day over maternity pants!!!
  • Hopefully I'll be getting some tomorrow.  I can't stand my maternity jeans anymore (they are the only maternity pants that don't fall off of me) and I can't even come close to buttoning my pre-preg pants.  I need to find just one pair that will make me feel presentable.  I can't wear yoga pants for the rest of my life....or can I?
  • I guess I'm in the minority here - I love my maternity pants and don't ever want to wear real pants again.  They're so comfy!
  • I've been hanging out in track pants and joggers with drawstrings, but if I had to go back to pre-preg clothes, I'd probably need the next size up. I lost the "weight" in lbs, but I have a belly pooch now, and the doc hasn't cleared me to exercise or anything yet- which I'm not a big fan of anyway (fwiw, I had a c-section).

So yes, if I was to wear real clothing, I'm sure I would need a bigger size.

  • I've been living in maxidresses and yoga pants to avoid this issue. Annoyingly, I'm 10 lbs under my pre pregnancy weight and yet my stomach is so flabby and gross that I HATE how pants fit me. It will be a while before I get the balls to go jean shopping.
  • I went jean shopping yesturday but it was so depressing that I gave up and left the store without buying anything.

    This is me exactly!

  • Since DH won't let me take the baby anywhere, I've been living in drawstring pants, yoga pants, and one pair of maternity jeans. I tried on pre pregnancy jeans last week and cried. I've lost most of the weight but my hips are still wider.
  • Yep. Today I did. My pp jeans are a size 6...I bought 12s today. Crying

  • I haven't bought any yet, but I'm going to have to. I go back to work in 4 weeks and am still 15+ pounds heavier.  I can't get some of my pants up over my thighs and hips.  I will have to go at least 2 sizes up.  I've been living in yoga pants and maternity jeans but before I go back to work, I'll have to go shopping and buy some pants in the right size. I'm so annoyed! I just don't see myself having any time or energy to lose the weight before then.

  • I have one pair of jeans I wear pretty much every day, lol. I packed away all my maternity stuff ASAP, so hopefully I'll squeeze back into my other pants soon. I am up about 5-10lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, so I can cram myself into my pants, it's just not pretty.

I don't go back to work until June and it's a super casual office during the summer, so I'm telling myself I really have until September. ;)

I'm the same way, I love my maternity pants. I'm still wearing my maternity t-shirts too. They are stretch and the only difference is they are a little longer than regular shirts, but not enough to really notice.  I don't know what size I am now, but I would guess at least a 16/18 (I was 12 pre-preg). I'll stick to my stretchy preggo pants, thankyouverymuch!

  • I did! I went from a size 1 to a size 10! I have lost a little weight and could probably fit in an 8 now, but I am trying to lose a little more weight before I go on another shopping trip. I learned though, ignore the #, it's hard but focus on what best fits/complements your body and then you'll look great and feel a little better. I don't think I will ever be a size 1 again, my body shape had changed, I now have hips, but I feel comfortable in my body bc I have ignored the # and just focused on buying pieces that make me feel nice and pretty

  • I am at my pre-pregnancy weight, but not my pre-pregnancy shape! My face/neck/shoulders look gaunt but my waist/tummy/hips/thighs are bigger. I have a pair of jeans that fit okay, but I tried on my favorite shorts and almost cried. I couldn't pull them over my hips. They will be my guideline bottoms.

  • I was an 8, now I'm a 14. Sad
  • Thanks for this post! It really made me feel better!

I am still wearing my maternity jeans. I actually like them Embarrassed. They are really comfy!

I am actually afraid to try on pre-preg jeans and refuse to go shopping. My thighs and booty have expanded and I dread to see the size I will need. I plan on trying to start walking tomorrow....

  • Yep! I was a size 6 before and now I bought size 13 jeans and size 10 dress. I only bought one pair of jeans since I lose a little every week. I'd like to think I won't be this size for long so I didn't want to buy too many things! I don't mind though. The jeans were flattering on me and to me, that's the most important thing!

  • After living in yoga pants, I broke down and bought a pair of jeans that were 2 sizes larger than pp size.  I'm refusing to buy more and am very much hoping to get back into pp work pants by the time I go back to work in March.  And does this weird belly pooch ever go away???
  • I live in 1 pair of jeans that were my pp jeans...the rest don't fit.  Fortunately (for my bank account) my slack still fit.

Shirts, though, I'm going to need much bigger sizes.  Mostly for the boobs and to cover this belly flab.  All of my slacks were low rise so that helps.

I will say that it was last week before my 1 pair of jeans buttoned - before that I used the bella band.

I'm probably going to buy a new pair of jeans though since the ones i have are full of holes.

  • I actually bought a new pair of jeans today.  They are 1 size up from pre-pg size.  My maternity jeans started falling down so I broke down and got an inexpensive pair of new jeans, it feels nice to zip and button again!
  • I really need to go out and buy normal pants, I'm so tired of wearing maternity jeans. For some reason the butt of the jeans are really saggy, and it drives me crazy.

I was a 6-8 pre-pregnancy. I wouldn't doubt it if I go up a couple sizes, because my hips are wider and I have a pooch now.

I can't wait to get the okay from my doc to exercise.

  • Every time I get the courage to go buy new pants, I end up leaving the store empty handed and really down on myself. :-P I've tried three times now and can never find anything!

I was 10/12 pre-preg, and now I need a 16/18, which is fine. I can handle the increase in size (even though it sucks).  The problem is that in order for me to find jeans that don't cause me to have a super muffin top, I end up in jeans that don't fit me through the butt/thighs and I refuse to buy new jeans that are that unflattering! I'd rather wear my saggy maternity pants. :(
