Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Dried cranberries = toddler crack.

I have to hide the bag and lie to her - 'They are all gone!' Oops. She is obsessed.

Re: Dried cranberries = toddler crack.

  • DD loves those and raisins. She can't get enough of them but we have to be careful with the raisins since we have dogs.

And DD loves Lili's boots in your siggy. She pointed to them and said "bug". Lol I thought my kid was the only weird one who likes to wear her rain boots around the house.

They are excellent! DD loves dried blueberries and raisins as well. If all else fails, she will eat those.

I never thought of it, I'll have to add it to my list too.

  • HAHA I totally agree! I guess/hope there are worse things to be addicted too, right?!
  • Yup... and dried cherries and raisins... she loves em!

  • I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't know DS could have these.  I had the notion that they were choking hazards and avoided them at all costs.

I'll have to give it a try tomorrow and see what he thinks!

  • C is the same way!!  She likes to hoard them in her mouth.
  • Yep, DS loves them all - cranberries, blueberries, raisins, cherries, you name it.  LOVES them.

I'm glad to see other kiddos are eating them too.  I kept hearing that raisins were choking hazards and felt like a terrible mom for letting him have them.  We do watch him carefully, and he's never had a problem with them, but I still felt guilty.

  • Same here, DD loves Craisins and we lie all the time about them being gone. There are definitely worse things :)

I've heard that as well, but meh. The raisins I give her are tiny. I don't see how they could be a choking hazard unless you are giving the big fat ones. When she was under a year, I chopped them in half. She just adores them.

And I didn't discover other dried fruit until just recently, and I haven't even bothered to think of choking hazard. Oh well.

  • I've read that it helps to squash dried fruit and raisins for the choking hazard thing,

DS likes dried fruit, too, but I have to pay special attention to the label. Usually only the more expensive ones are all fruit. I picked up some dried blueberries the other day without paying close attention, and noticed afterward the second ingredient was high fructose corn syrup.

So very true. I buy Newman's Own Organics dried fruit or Trader Joe's.

  • DD thinks they're all blueberries, but, yes, she can't get enough of dried cranberries and blueberries.  She woke up Sunday morning saying "bu-berry?" from her crib.  Too funny.
