I'm such a dork for figure skating.

That and the gymnastics in the Summer Olympics.  It's one of my girlier tendencies.

    Me, too! Right now I'm really frustrated that we didn't get cable in time for the Olympics. :( (Where we live we can't get a single channel w/o cable. :( ) So far no luck finding a way to watch the figure skating online. :(

    Fun! I did it for just a year and loved it. (My parents wouldn't pay for it so I didn't do it till my senior year of high school when I could pay for it myself.) Did you compete much?

    yeah...I did compete a lot. Looking back I feel bad for my parents. Figure skating is soooooo expensive. New pairs of skates are $600+ (and you need a new pair about every 6 mths), ice time, coaching, outfits for competition...the list goes on and on. $$$$$$ sport!

    Yeah, it is insanely expensive. I also spent a couple of years working on a novel about figure skating when I was in high school so I did a lot of research, interviewed some skaters, volunteered at some competitions (there were several big ones held in Indy when I was in HS!) and competed in two myself. (Freestyle 1&2, nothing exciting. ;)) What event(s) did you do? What level did you get to?

    My 5th grade yearbook says that I wanted to be a figure skater when I grew up.  It was right after the winter olympics when I said that.  I maybe skated 10 times in my life at that point. 

    I loved Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan.  I wanted to be just like them!
