Babies on the Brain

Baby sizes

So, my girls are due in June. We all logically know that they could come anytime before then. But would I be nuts if I bought winter jackets in 12 months or should I go for the 18 mos? I understand we are talking NEXT winter.

Re: Baby sizes

  • Even if they come before your due date, they would be on the smaller side.  Depending on where you live and how long of a winter you have I think 12 months would work better than 18 months.

  • I found that winter coats ran big. Ezra is in 18 mo clothes and wears a 12 month coat. Matthias's coat I believe is 18m or 2T and he wears 3T.

I think I'd get 18 mo coats (not for the 10-11 winter, but for the 11-12 winter) But only if they are a great deal. Otherwise, just wait. Since they are twins, I'd guess they'll be in 3-6 m or 6-9 m clothes by 10-11 winter.

  • I would think size 6-12 would be perfect.

  • Winter 11-12?  I say 12 months, if you are going to buy them, but honestly, I'd just get ones for 10-11.  I only have one kid and can barely remember where his currently clothes are located.  If I bought something for him to wear in 2 years, I would never find it and/or remember I had even bought it.

  • Colin is 13 months old and still cannot fit into most 12 month clothes. (He's 25% for weight and 70% for height). I seriously suck at guessing what sizes he will need in future seasons. I haven't ever bought anything ahead of his current size even though with sales it's tempting. So to sum it all up- I'm no help.
  • Heck for $10, if you have a place to store them I would buy them in both sizes for 10-11 and 11-12 winter.

Ditto this. If I bought something that far ahead I would complete forget I had it.

  • I just bought Elliot the green bubble jacket with pink hood from Kohls, great deals!  I also got 2 $ extra off for using my Kohls charge.  8$ is not that bad of a deal IMO!

Check childrens place, they have bubble jackets for the same price as well in store.

I have a special place for clothes that they need to grow into. I like to pick up shirts and stuff on clearance for a couple bucks.

  • Since Lex got here, I've realized how unpredictable those sizings can be. She's 6 weeks and is still tiny and fitting just fine in newborn sizes. We'll be lucky to even use the fleece outfits that we got in 0-3 sizing, let alone the tons of 3-6 month winter clothes. It sounds like a fabulous deal, but I'd probably wait and see how big the babies are once they get here.

If you are looking for this coming winter 10-11 then I'd get buntings not coats.  I just got Norah and adorable snowsuit at Gap for $15!  They had the cutest ladybug buntings on sale too. (link below)

Haha get out of my head! I was going to say that.

  • Milo is a big boy and was born in May and is already wearing 18 months.  Eve has always been a peanut and still fit in 6 month clothes at 12 months.
