How do you make green beans? Like yummy restaurant style ones---not casserole-----where they have some flavor and a bit of crunch to them? Does anyone know what I am talking about? LOL
Put them in a steamer basket, salt them, and steam for just a couple of minutes...only until they turn BRIGHT green. Toss with a little butter (or olive oil), lemon juice, pepper, and roasted garlic. YUM.
Or, this is the only way my DH will eat green beans. They're in a cream sauce.
- Buy fresh (not frozen or canned) green beans - Wash the beans and coat them lightly with olive oil - Add finely chopped white onions and bacon bits (real bacon bits) - Cook them in a wok or on your stovetop in a grilling pan or a frying pan *** Do not cook too long or they will lose their crunch
Ok so I found this recipe----looks good enough----but wtf does blanch in boiling water mean?? lol
Blanching is dunking in boiling water for like 20 seconds...and then usually dunking in ice water to stop the cooking process. Keeps the color and crunch.

Re: prob a dumb question, because I don't cook often!
