Has anyone used their infant seat without a base? I haven't and don't know how comfortable I feel about it, like when someone else needs to drive DD. It's a pain to take out the base and put in in another vehicle. DH and I both have one in our vehicles, but if Grandma or something needs to pick DD up somewhere, is it okay?
Re: Anyone use infant seat without a base?
We went to Ireland when our DD was 6-8 weeks and we used our carseat (Snugride 32) with just the seatbelts and it was fine. we read teh manual in depth and tried it out at home. You just have to make sure the belts are really tight. I prefer the base b/c it is so easy just to snap it in and go, but the belts are ok too.
You have to check to make sure you carseat can go in the car with belts, I don't all seats can.
I had to for a little while with DD#1 because I drove a car with a weird hump in the back seats..so putting in the base just made the whole thing wobble around. I found not using the base was more secure. There is a slit for the seat belt to go across the leg area. Once they get older then I would say 6 months..it may be difficult, because it will cut off the freedom in the leg area.
HTH!
