I don't have any information for you but I just wanted to post and offer my support. I'm sure you're very worried and scared. Sorry you have to go through this. Sending T&P your way that it's a false positive!!
I have not heard about false positives on newborn screenings, but they did discover my daughter's congenital hypothyroidism on her screening. In fact, after nuclear scans, they discovered she has no thyroid at all.
Will they do further testing to verify the results? I hope all turns out well and it is a false positive!
Just checked the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation site and found this information:
What does the newborn screening test for CF reveal? Does a positive result mean that a baby has CF?
No, not necessarily. A newborn screening test
is not a diagnostic test. In fact, only a fraction of babies with an
initial positive CF newborn screening test ultimately are diagnosed
with the disease. If an initial screen is positive, further tests are
done to rule out or confirm a CF diagnosis.

Thank you for the info. I will try not to freak out until we go get his testing done. I hope this is just a false positive.
