Bad breath with teething?

My son has been off for the last week and a half. I was pretty sure it was teething from the way he has been acting. (finger chewing, drooling, messed up sleep and diapers, lac of appetite). This morning he had a fever of 103 at 5:30 am. I gave him some motrin, and the fever broke about 7:30. It hasn't come back, but he is still acting weird. He is 19 months. He has had bad breath for the last 2 days and I just wonder if it is related. We definitely brush teeth in this house!  He has never been sick before, except for a brief weekend of what we think was roseola.

    Is there a possibility he stuck something up his nose without you knowing? I have seen kids in the ER with the same complaint of bad breathe and we find a pea or something rotting in their nose. --- Just a random thought

    DS had bad breath a while back and my cousin who's a dentist said that if they get congested at night (which they can from the drool from teething) that they might sleep with their mouth open and it can cause bad breath. We started brushing DS's teeth in the morning in addition to the evening and it's helped a lot.

    yup, DS's breathe would always be rank when he was teething.  I couldn't find anything on google to confirm this, but it was true every time.

    DS gets really bad breath when he is sick or has an ear infection.

    I was on hold with the doctors office for 35 min and finally got through - the nurse thinks he is teething AND coming down with a virus. Sounds like it is going to be a fun weekend !

    I read that in my google - ing, and he doesn't have a runny nose or anything. We will see how it goes.
