My SIL just text me. My nephew is in the ICU on a freaking ventilator. He is in stable condition, but I'm just so worried for him. Please keep him in your prayers.
WOW, that just made me cry! I am so terrified of this ever happening to DD!My mom is a teacher and since learning more about DD's allergy she has become more aware in educating the staff at her school about what to do and making sure she can help keep those with peanut allergies safe. I hope your nephew is ok. He will be in my thoughts.?
OMG!!! That is horrible. DS has a multitude of allergies including peanut and tree nut. Now I'm even more concerned about the administration of the epi pen. Our allegist also said that you always give benadryl after you do the epi and also call 911. Why the f wouldn't they call 911??? OMG--that makes me fume thinking about this.
Yes, please keep us posted! ?I want to learn how in the hell these things happen and how we can help prevent them for other allergy sufferers so they don't end up in the hospital like your nephew. What a poor little guy, I really hope he feels better soon.
I am in Southern IL are you anywhere around here or just an illini fan??
that school needs to be put through the ringer! i'm so sorry. they should have at the very, very least called 911. WTF?
T&P to your family and nephew.
Agreed. I was a daycare teacher (which is very different than being the school district), but we were all trained on how and when to use an epi when we had kids with allergies. Were they just going to let him have a reaction and not do anything about it? What if his throat would have started closing up right away?
I'm so sorry. My niece has this and several others and has been hospitalized, too. off to read your first post, but sounds like the school effed up. My sister homeschools bc she doesn't feel safe about it. Poor nephew! T&P.

This is terrible. My LO has a peanut allergy and this is a worst fear. That being said i think this is good information to go back to my provider and say, hey how do you handle this and who can administer. What there "Plan" so to speak.
I am so mad at the administrators at that school. What they did was unacceptable. DS has severe peanut allergies and was just hospitalized for his most recent exposure. The thought of those teachers just standing around while your nephew got sicker and sicker makes we want to punch them all in the face. I can't believe they didn't even call 911.
Re: mini update on my nephew (peanut allergy)
