Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

anyone know when...

i can start making his crib a little more comfy? no blanket, no pillow, no stuffed animal, no bumper...makes bedtime not very appetizing.

i've been really careful regarding SIDS risks, but now at 15 mo, i'd like to make it more cozy for him if i can.

Re: anyone know when...

  • DD had a blanket and a stuffed bunny in her crib at around 10 months (maybe sooner?) and she got a pillow just before she turned a year old. Right before we moved her to her toddler bed at 18 months, she had 4-6 blankets 3 stuffed dolls and a pillow. Most of which she would throw out of her crib during the night and I would find on the floor the next morning.

  • DS sleeps with a light weight blanket but he refuses to sleep with a pillow or anything else.

  • We have a blanket in the crib for DS and if he goes to sleep with stuffed animals, we just take them out before we go to bed.  (He usually throws everything out of his crib before going to sleep anyways).
  • DS sleeps with a blanket right now but nothing else.

  • DS sleeps with his blanket, Mr. Bear and Elmo and has since he was about 6 months old.

  • They say to follow safe sleep practices until 2 years of age but the risk significantly decreases after 1 year.  We didn't allow any blankets in bed with our first DS until well after he was 2 1/2, but instead used a Halo Sleepsack.
