Re: Did starting to chart intimidate you

  • I don't know if intimidate is the right word, but I still get confused and forget things...that's when I come here.

I have VIP now, didn't get it till I chart for a couple months, cause FF can't give you concrete answers till about three months after you start charting anyway.  You can still be chart stalked without the VIP feature lol

  • I fought it for months and months, and finally started in January of this year. Now I"m actually liking it - but am still learning. I do have VIP but only b/c I am still learning and want to try out all of the options.  . .

to me the scary part was getting obsessed. I didn't want to be crazy about it. My rule has been temp, enter it, and then don't go back to the chart until next day. generally this works, but now that it is 2ww I find myself staring at it. . .ugh.

I will say I am glad I started, It's fascinating to start to recognize the tiny little changes your body goes through.

  • You'll be surprised how quickly you get the hang of it. And I don't feel the need to use the VIP. It actually gives me too much to obsess over :)

You definitely don't have to have the VIP. There is a comparison you can look at  between the basic and VIP versions on FF.

  • I use the free option-no VIP. And I like it just fine. I'm still getting used to charting. I started by just logging my AF & CM then moved on to temping. I'm still getting the hang of it but I like it. I signed up for the daily tutorials which really helped me understand better.

  • Charting can be intimidating at first but I love it. I know so much more about my body than I did a few months ago. The best advice I can give you is to start out with the basics. Buy a bbt, get up the same time every morning to take your temp (even if you go right back to sleep afterwards), and chart your cervical mucous. What specifically are you confused about?

I don't know if there is anything in particular I  am confused about I just want to make sure I do it right.......I had bought a bbt before the last pregnancy and had only really been charting my temps in a book I had at home ( what to expect before your expecting ) and writing my CM and such on that

  • It doesn't intimidate me, but consumes my poor mind constantly.  Just try to be as accurate in your temping.  This is my third time charting (1st time was back in September 09 when we got our bfp) so I am a bit new to the whole thing myself.  I do have VIP this time, but not sure if I am going to renew it.  I think the MF will decide on that one in 11 days.

    Good luck!

  • Once you get started it's really not hard to understand.  The hardest part is remembering the temperatures when I'm 1/2 asleep at 6am!  I put them on my cell phone calendar before I shower and then transfer to FF when I get to my computer.

  • Charting is a great way to see what's going with  your cycle as it relates to your waking body temperature.  Don't be overwhelmed!!! It's meant to be a guide to help you (and the doctors) understand your cycle.  I used FF for 6 months and found out I have some progesterone issues because of it.  I was able to print off the charts and take them to my appointments to show my doctors. THe more we can be knoweledgeable about our bodies and cycles the more we are able to take charge of our health and fertility.

     Here's a helpful link to understanding BBT's.
